Some people describe the male protagonist BenHur as the enmity of Monte Cristo. The story line is related to revenge, but the hidden male protagonist of this movie is Jesus. The story is structured in the empire ruled by Caesar the Great. The male protagonist is a fictional character, a nobleman in Jerusalem. A lot of twists and turns are omitted in the middle. In short, the male protagonist is reduced to slaves and free of money. In the end, he truly appreciates the true meaning of kindness on the road of revenge. That kindness came from the dedication of Jesus' free will. The male protagonist is fictitious, but what the story wants to express is similar to that of the Bible. The difference is that the director's narrative angle is different. The director himself is an atheist. He went to Jerusalem to collect information for the film. At first he found proof of rebuttal, but in the process of collecting he believed that Jesus really existed. Therefore, Jesus is a hidden thread in the narrative, using Caesar's rule and suffering people to reflect the kind spirit of Jesus. Against the backdrop of the historical background, Jesus is a real person. He is not a myth or magic. He has a strong will to find good and beautiful in suffering. When he said that only love can no longer be a slave, because Caesar spreads hatred and violence in the hearts of the people. The arena represents violence education. When Jesus said that his choice to suffer was free will, how his martyrdom would be different from the opposite of using violence to show his martyrdom, both of which were experienced by BenHer. This film does not emphasize divinity or a strong sense of fatherhood. It is the biggest highlight of the film to convey the spirit of Jesus without preaching the scriptures. And the actors who played Jesus also acted naturally.

Judah Ben-Hur: You should have killed me.

    Messala Severus: I will.

    [chariot race begins]

  • Jesus: Hate, anger, fear. Those are lies they use to turn you against each other. When you set aside the hate they force you to carry, that's when you know love is our true nature.
