Actually Freaks was not the first as a horror movie

In fact, it is necessary to add a warm label to this movie. The director has been in the circus before and has enough knowledge of these disabled people. Therefore, in addition to the rainy night, the audience is more that these innocent and lovely people have a rich and happy life like normal people, and the director’s real life Care also runs through the film. Everything comes from those two "normal people" with evil thoughts (so who is more terrifying), and it is the evil behavior of the outside world that makes everything change. So the first half of the tone is bright and the final happy ending (although everyone may find it a bit abrupt, but the director's intention is first that this group is good and normal, and secondly, when this group of people who have been treated unfairly is more united than any social group.

The director uses expressionism freely, and his excellent scene scheduling pushes the plot to a climax during the rainy night, rendering the horrible atmosphere to the extreme.

Generally speaking, it can be called a model of horror movies in terms of technique and storyline.

Freaks quotes

  • Hercules: [telling Venus off, as she walks out the door of his trailer] Ungrateful little tramp!

  • Venus: [she has just been kicked out of Hercules' trailer; she is very upset; yells at Phroso, who is just standing there minding his own business] Well, what are you staring at? Didn't you ever see a lady move before? I guess you've been listening to every word he said.

Venus: [Phroso still hasn't said a word; she has a loud tone of voice] That's it. That's it! Go ahead and laugh. It's funny, ain't it?

Venus: [Phroso still hasn't said a word; her voice is sarcastic] Yeah. Women are funny, ain't they? They're all tramps, ain't they?

Venus: Ye-e-eah. Except when you can get MONEY from them!

[she storms off, goes into the trailer next door]

Phroso: [finally gets mad at Venus for dumping on him; he rushes over to her trailer.] Well, I'll be! Say, who do you think you are, shooting off your head? Hey, this is Phroso -- Phroso you're talking to! Not any of those thugs you've been chasing around with.

Venus: [apologizing, soft tone of voice] Oh, I didn't mean you. I had to take it out on somebody.
