A not-so-good-looking anti-war film

The title of the film is Gears of War. The idea that the whole film wants to convey is the arrogance of the soldiers and the desire to fight for rights, making war a machine for his personal ambitions. When
I first watched the trailer, I thought it was a light-hearted way of talking. , I didn’t expect the
feature film to be nothing at all and not the seriousness and deepness of general war films, nor the ridicule and lightness I expected. The tone of the whole film can be said to be chaotic and inconsistent.
At the beginning, I spent some space to introduce the background of the war and McMahon. Hong and the people around him, but all of them were narrated through narration,
which can be said to be quite boring and hurriedly taken, making people completely unable to remember.
The only known McMahon is a general who is very strict with himself and is loved by his subordinates.
Bradley Pitt uses exaggerated facial expressions, gestures and rough voice to interpret this role. He is really impressed by this legendary general
. It may be quite interesting, but after watching too much, I feel tired,
and the hearts of the audience follow General McMahon’s ambition at the beginning, believing that he has the ability to improve the situation of the war. In
the end, he was frequently frustrated and frustrated by the reality of the war. I feel uncomfortable because of the development of face-to-face. The
film’s intention to satirize the war system is good, but it’s a pity that the story is not beautiful.
Just like the ending of the movie, your efforts are not in the right direction, so all your efforts are in vain.

War Machine quotes

  • Gen. Glen McMahon: [to the group of marines] I've spent the last week or so talking to guys who I would call middle management, but you boys are at the coal face. After all the blah blah blah, *you* boys are actually where it happens. I'd go so far as to say you boys are the only thing that counts. If it doesn't happen here, it doesn't happen, end of story.

[to Billy, who raises his hand]

    Gen. Glen McMahon: Yes son?

Cpl. Billy Cole: If what doesn't happen, sir?

    Gen. Glen McMahon: *It*, son.

Cpl. Billy Cole: Okay, thank you, sir.

Gen. Glen McMahon: Does anyone here know what "it" is? Anyone?

    [silence]

    Gen. Glen McMahon: *Any* one?

[points to Ricky who's raised his hand]

Ricky Ortega: To- uh, secure the area, sir? To protect the people from the enemy so they can go about building their lives.

Gen. Glen McMahon: Okay. O-kay. Thank you, Sarge.

Cpl. Billy Cole: Okay, but I can't tell the difference between the people and the enemy. They all look alike to me. I'm sure they're the same people, sir.

  • President Karzai: Your predecessor, General Whelan! I liked him! I'm not entirely certain he liked *me*; he didn't visit very often. Why was he dismissed? It seems- uhh, one minute he was here- uh, next minute, not here.

Gen. Glen McMahon: Ah. Well, Mr. President, I think our government simply felt it was time our effort took a new direction.

President Karzai: And uh, what is this new direction?

Gen. Glen McMahon: Ah! It's most important to me that we *build* Afghanistan. Together, we build Afghanistan into a free and prosperous nation, free from fear and conflict.

    President Karzai: I see.

    Gen. Glen McMahon: Yeah.

President Karzai: I see. Sounds a lot like the *old* direction.
