Watched The Zookeeper's Wife back in September, though I don't remember the exact date.

Liked the story, very heartwarming in the midst of the horror surrounding them. And the main character was quite admirable. But I read reviews that said the real person she was based on was nothing like the character. She really was a bit of a mouse until her husband left for the resistance, and there was no Nazi official in love with her.

I think I'm glad that they didn't make the Nazi official a rapist and a child murderer on top of his being a Nazi. Maybe the filmmakers felt that'd be over the top.

But yeah, yet another movie set during WWII. Anyway, I still like the actress Chastin, though she wasn't a badass in this one, she's still vibrant and inviting.

"You can never tell who your enemies are, or who to trust. Maybe that's why I love animals so much. You look in their eyes, and you know exactly what's in their hearts. They're not like people."

'Hidden for many years has made me lose trust in humans. I don't know if they are enemies or friends; only animals, animals are different from humans, you can always see their hearts when you look into their eyes. Maybe this is why I like animals more than people. '

The Zookeeper's Wife quotes

  • Jan Zabinski: I was raised with these people. Gentile, Jewish. It didn't matter to my family. It never mattered to me.

  • Dr. Janusz Korczak: But what of the children, Dr. Zabinski? My heart is no different than yours, I don't believe. I should not be here. They should not be here. You should not be here.
