Gia's choice

It’s said that the first time I saw the movie "Nice Clothes Peach" turned out to be in CCTV No. 1 Theater, but it was a pity that Linda asked Gia whether to choose her or the drugs in her hand, so it is not clear that the first half of the exposed scenes are being screened. Whether the time has been cropped. I don't know when it will be released next time. In fact, since I saw "Normal Storm" (Normal 2003) on this channel, I have felt that our TV stations have become more and more tolerant.

For the first time, I only saw the second half of Gia's misfortune. I realized that it was a real adaptation from a real person when I saw the end. So I went to investigate:

Gia Marie Carangi (1960.1.29 – 1986.11.18)

from the late 1970s to the 1980s She was a fashion model from the United States and was considered by some to be the first supermodel. Unfortunately, she was infected with AIDS by taking drugs and died of complications caused by AIDS. She is considered to be one of the first female celebrities to die of AIDS. .

Recently, I became fascinated by Elizabeth Mitchell because of watching "The World", and then I came to "Lost" to watch. When I was collecting her previous movies, I saw "Gia", but I just can't remember who she played. I remember that Gia’s girlfriend has golden hair and a sweet smile, but she just can’t remember her face. The facts once again proved that either I had an eraser in my mind, or I had face blindness...

After seeing the stills, I was rightly seated, so I found the full version of the show to watch. I have to compliment Angelina Jolie. She is indeed like Gia. She has a beauty that blonde girls lack. The domineering expression in Gia's eyes in the play reminds me of Anita Mui. The first drama she watched was "The Bone Collector" (The Bone Collector 1999). I really didn’t have any impression of her. After she became popular, I only knew about adopting children, the second generation of stars, and her famous husband, many men. Like her on these points. After watching the "Foxfire" (Foxfire 1996), I saw a completely different AJ. She was not sexy at the time, and perhaps it was easier to notice her acting skills. I have always known that AJ's performance in "Girl, Interrupted 1999" is outstanding, but he is very repulsive from watching this scene. It is not the reason. For some movies, you must be psychologically prepared before you go to see it.

Let’s talk about Elizabeth Mitchell. I didn’t expect her role in the play to be quite heavy. No matter she appeared in that play, I felt that she was very isolated from the world. Oh, yes, except for "Running Fright." Scared 2006) this one. Linda in the play brought Gia an alternative to the chaotic life of the model circle. From the environment where Linda lives, you can feel that it is much cleaner than the dirty atmosphere of the model circle. Gia's choice between Linda and drugs determined her ultimate fate, and the scene was really sad.

The film is interspersed with documentary-like interviews with people around Gia. At first, I thought it was like "Ruan Lingyu". Later, I discovered that the "documentary" actors here are still characters in the play, and "Ruan Lingyu" is an actor. In itself, this is the gap, haha, it would be better if the film was also shot according to "Ruan Lingyu", or like "Brothers", interviewing real characters would be more convincing.

The Sri Lankan is dead, and Gia’s choice cannot be changed. People nowadays are no longer as ignorant of AIDS as they were then, but discrimination has not been eliminated. The tragedy that mothers dare not let their sick daughter go home may still be staged somewhere, using MJ’s Lyrics, of mutual encouragement

"If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And Then Make A Change"

It turns out that this person is Angelina Jolie!

Gia quotes

  • Mike Mansfield: Your look is not spring. Your look is nuclear-fucking-winter.

  • Gia Carangi: Honey, what is it? It it about today? I did one line. One lousy line, and that's it.

Linda: What about yesterday? And the day before, and the day before that?

    Gia Carangi: Nothing.

    Linda: I don't believe you.

[Gia moves to kiss Linda, who turns away]

Gia Carangi: Oh, is that it? Your're just jealous! You're just jealous because you don't want anyone to know about us! You don't want it to get around that you and me... you are with a model! You don't want it to be known that you're fucking a model! Go ahead and say it, I'm fucking a model!

    [shouts]

Gia Carangi: I'm fucking a model!
