The name of this movie is "Dark Land", and the name is quite domineering, but the whole movie has nothing to do with this name. After reading it, I think it should be called "Poverty and Children" more appropriately. Because all the plots of this drama are based on "poverty", the heroine Libby lived in a poor peasant family when she was a child. Her mother raised four children by herself, and her father was a wicked gambler, often shy. Come back and ask my wife for money. In order to support the whole family, the mother contracted a large farm, but the government officials in the town had to take the farm back because the farm did not make money. The mother had no choice but to find a bounty hunter to kill herself and get insurance so that the children could continue to go to school and live. However, there was a little error in the plan. When the killer was carrying out the plan, he awakened the children, but helplessly, the killer had no choice but to kill everyone. But God bless the good man, the youngest Libby, with the help of her brother, avoids escaping to death. With incomplete memory, the young Libby identified her brother Ban as the murderer. His brother was reluctant to appeal in order to protect his secrets. It was not until Libby became an adult and accidentally entered a detective club interested in killing people. Under the guidance of the club's founder, Libby slowly began to find the truth.
In fact, the plot of this movie is very simple. The director seems to be deliberately suspenseful in order to make the plot complicated and complicated. The director seemed to want to tell people a lot, but after watching it, he didn't seem to say anything.
The director wants to tell people that people should forget the past and be full of hope for the future. It's like your brother class told Libby in prison, after so many years, haven't you played down this matter? It looks like I am in jail, but in fact you have also been imprisoned. Libby suddenly realized that his elder brother had already seen the matter, but now he was left with only the good memories of the time and the only relative in front of him, his younger sister, Libby. Libby has been living in this matter and has never walked out, even if she sleeps during the day, she will be awakened by nightmares. At the end of the movie, Libby finally got rid of her happy knot and returned to the farm when she was a child. Seeing the little girl, she seemed to see who she used to be, so happy and unfettered. Libby finally understands her mother's intention at this time, to be full of hope in life, mother will always love you, my little ladybug.
The director seems to be telling people to be kind at all times. As the truth continues to be revealed, Libby gradually discovers that his brother is a kind-hearted person. He not only teaches other children to paint part-time, but also uses his part-time job to earn money to buy beautiful new clothes for his sisters. But no one knows all this. Everyone had misunderstood him. When Mom took out these clothes from under the bed, her spirit collapsed. It turned out that what those people said was true, and Ben had gone bad. But is this the case? It can only be said that Ban fell in love with a woman who shouldn't love (the rich girl who went to bed with her class), and provoked a woman who should not be provoked (the woman who taught painting part-time in class, which was later the down-and-out stripper). His life was ruined by these two women. But Ben is kind, even if he has been wronged for more than 20 years, he still doesn't resent those people, including his sister.
Feeling so much, let’s talk about some of my thoughts after watching this show.
Poverty is an eternal topic of people. There is an old saying in China, no matter how poor you are, you cannot be poor. I think this is the way the mother trades her life for insurance in the play. Her farm can't sustain, and she can't take the children out of this place. She can only use this method to let the children continue to live and go to school. (Well, this topic of poverty will not be expanded, otherwise it will be endless.)
Finally, I want to talk about some dissatisfaction settings in the play:
1. After Libby grew up, she developed the habit of stealing. Whether you see your favorite condiments in high-end restaurants, or good-looking high-end fountain pens. This setting undoubtedly greatly reduced my impression of Libby. The government officials in the town once told Libby's mother that now is the poorest time, you can go without rules, you can grab, you can steal, etc., as long as you get through this difficulty. At that time, Libby's mother did not do this, but adopted the method of sacrificing her own life (of course this is also not acceptable). But when Libby grew up, she developed the habit of stealing. How did Zai Tian Ling's mother stare at him? Why does this make Charlize Theron such a big beauty so enamored?
2. On the issue of casting. Libby's brother Ban was so handsome when he was young that so many girls pursued him. But when he grows up, he has become the top loser. This, this change is too great. When I was young, in order to prevent my mother and sister from seeing their long hair, they had to wear hats when they ate, but when they grew up, they became the top losers. Are you acting funny? There is also that Indian man, who had long braids when he was young, and later became a middle-aged man, still wore long braids. This setting is reasonable. You see you messed up Ban, I even suspect that after he was released from prison, his daughter would have to say otherwise.
3. The founder of Decryption Club, I know that I need to set up such a character to lead Libby in search of the truth, but what I don't understand is how did he escape the trouble he caused when he was young? How did he become a powerful entrepreneur, and opened two laundry chains and a club. Of course, these are not necessary to expand, but you can use a line or two to make it clear. It’s also a family breakup, why is there such a big difference? Don’t others curious?
4. Ben’s former girlfriend and current daughter, the director did not reveal whether the mother and daughter were caught in the end, but they wanted to kill Libby.
In short, don't look at me so much Barabara, in fact, this movie is not very good. If you are a big fan of Charlize Theron, then treat it as I didn't say it. If not, this movie can be ignored directly.
Finally, my score for this play is: 4.5 points
