"The Story of Zhutori" is a story that I have always liked. I remember borrowing a copy of "Luowa Story" translated by Feng Zikai from the school library when I was in college. The three stories in it include "The Story of Zhutori". Because I was not careful, the book was lost and I had to pay the school when I graduated, so I lost five times the price (the original book was more than 5 yuan), but I didn’t feel a loss because it was indeed my fault. Besides, anyway, the story was read. Passed, the memory rooted in the heart.
The fascinating part of this story lies in the ethereal spirit of the bamboo forest and the moon palace, the beauty and persistence of Kaguyahime, and the process of testing people's hearts with treasures. In the story, the old man and the emperor did not force Kaguyahime, the emperor and the emperor. Kaguya had three years of singing and singing. Before Kaguya she left, she left the elixir for the emperor, but the emperor refused to take it because "we can't see Kaguya again, and use the elixir of immortality". In the story, there is no wicked person who is unforgivable, but good and beautiful.
"Kaguya Ji Monogatari" is still the essence of goodness and beauty, strengthens love, and makes love a contradiction-not because of external force forcing separation, but because of inappropriate love. And this is exactly where the tragedy lies. For external oppression, you can resist and escape, but for love, you will be in a state of stalemate and struggle: you know love, but you can’t accept it, and want to resist in your heart, so you make a sound, but facing the parting, you feel regretful, just like this At the moment, it is often impossible to change the ending. After all, the choice of life cannot be that after choosing A, you want to return to the original point.
If everyone understands that love can lead to loss, it may change the way of love, but unfortunately: there is always a tragedy to come, and people will wake up. The stories of others, for myself, are not personally painful after all.
I understand this, so when I watch "Kaguya Ji Monogatari", I feel sad.
Kaguya Ji uses a mythical shell to pretend stories that have happened from generation to generation.
In the beginning, people start from ignorance and curiosity. The old man took Kaguya Ji out of the bamboo shoots and returned home to the old woman. Kaguya Ji became a baby and grew up quickly. That paragraph is like everyone's initial memory: mother's warm embrace, sweet milk, unregulated growth, random crawling regardless of direction, toddlers, laughter and weeping, all innocent.
The heaven and the earth are beautiful, and Kaguya is sensible, stealing watermelons, catching pheasants, and dancing under the cherry trees with her friends, full of the joy of life. There is only one time in this world. Everyone wants to live willfully and the way they want. What Kaguya Ji wants is not extravagant, but her dream conflicts with the old man's vision, and the latter becomes the blueprint for her life.
The old man’s approach is not so much obedience to God’s will, as it is the general idea of Eastern parents, especially the strong will of the father, replacing the desire of their children with their own ideas: they are too young to understand the world and don’t know anything. What is good and what is bad, so we have to choose for them, which is responsible for them. To protect, learn all kinds of skills, and have a good home. Parents try to create a better future for their children, but they don't care whether this is what they really want.
Kaiyaji loves the earth, insects, birds, trees, flowers, partners, and her parents. She does not violate her parents' opinions, and hastily too late to say goodbye to her friends and enter a strange and luxurious life. All kinds of restraints are coming, and the natural beauty has to be replaced by plucking eyebrows and black teeth, because this is the aesthetics of the times, and I cannot help my own likes and dislikes. Including marriage.
The five nobles who proposed marriage actually have the same face, whether they are lying or clever tongues, and whether they are true or false, but after all, they don’t understand Kaguya Ji, and they don’t think they need to understand, her beauty is enough ( Perhaps even including talent), as to how long this kind of marriage can last, whether it will be happy, in fact, it is not among everyone's consideration: everyone has a different definition of happiness. What Kaguya Ji longed for was not like that, but what else could she do besides her mother being able to accompany her? She can only become more and more silent.
For the adult ceremony banquet, Kaguya Ji, as the person to be celebrated, can only sit inside the curtain, but in fact, others are participating. She is watching, just in her name. Hearing the humiliation of people outside the curtain, she suddenly broke out, and when she ran towards the moon, her Chinese clothes fell off one after another, as if she had lifted the shackles.
The painting style at this time turned wild, perfectly showing Kaguya Ji's mood. She was originally a spirit of the earth, close to the soil and the fragrance of flowers, and was placed in a greenhouse, unable to advance or retreat. Only in a dream, she could be free for a moment.
It's just the situation in the dream, and it's also barren. Back to the mountain village where the dreams linger, it is already desolate. Everyone is separated, and the mountains hibernate. The exhausted Kaguya Ji lay in the vast snowy field. A bright moon came to shine, and old dreams seemed to have come back vaguely. On the moon, someone is staring at her quietly. The struggle between the red dust is also part of the calamity. Every heart will fall. In the world, there are not only laughter, but also endless suffering. Seven emotions and six desires are human beings, and life is the ups and downs.
Many seeds are planted in fate, and some seeds will germinate at the right moment. So it's not so much fate, it's fate or other creation. Love is a great power, but it is also a strict constraint. Love lays down invisible boundaries that people cannot cross. The old man's love for Kaguyaji can be said to be a sample of the love of a strict father, and the old woman's love for Kaguyaji is motherly and helpless. It can only give her warm comfort, but cannot control her destiny. The little garden in the mansion is a small world created by her mother and Kaguyaji, but when Kaguya understands that this is just a fake, he can't settle for such an escape. When she decided to tell the old man that she could commit suicide after entering the palace and waiting for the old man to get an official position, Kaguya Ji had no magic power. This was the only resistance she could do.
Kaguya Ji is not without the ability to love, but what she loves cannot be obtained.
In the dream, she and Samaru fly freely, completely letting go of worldly fetters. Samaru is a newly added character in the play, which projects Kaguyaji's desire for love. Due to the old man's obstruction, they could not be together, Samaru married and had children, but the love for Kaguya Ji was always hidden in his heart. However, after waking up from the dream, life still has to go on. This is how many people spend their entire lives. There is no right and wrong, and there is no willingness or unwillingness, because sometimes life can only be enjoyed in dreams.
Another possibility in Kaguya Ji's life is that she never parted from Samaru, the two fell in love, stayed with each other, had children, and lived through this life with ordinary and difficult days. At the moment of death, the soul returns to the moon palace. Crime and punishment are over. This is the life she wants, but it is impossible to achieve it in the play.
The messenger of the Moon Palace came to pick Hui Ye Ji back. The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, which seemed to come from the Dunhuang murals, symbolized another world of innocence and desirelessness. In the eyes of heaven and human beings, the world is filthy, so Kaguya Ji was punished and came to the world. But Kaguyaji retorted with tears that this world is beautiful. This is all her feelings in the short time in this world, but, before the words are finished, the Bodhisattva puts on her feather robe, the memory disappears, she becomes dull-eyed, In the moon palace, the dumb-looking heaven and man, perhaps only that song can evoke a trace of inexplicable sadness, and nothing else.
What kind of grief will be for the elderly couple who lost their daughter for the rest of their lives?
The earth is still rejuvenating every year, harvesting in autumn and hiding in winter, endlessly growing. This is the way of heaven. In the meantime, people were born, old, sick and died, crying with joy and sorrow. We also know that stories similar to Kaguya Ji’s are actually being replied all the time. The details of the story may have changed, but the essence has never changed: can the new growth process be free? Is the happiness obtained in one's own way allowed? Must the will of parents and society be obeyed? When the two conflicts, how to resolve it? As a parent, what is suitable for the love of their children?
This animated film carved out over the long years can be said to be the highest achievement of ink-and-wash style animation at present. The beauty of the picture is breathtaking, and it has never been imagined that it can be so beautiful. Kaguya Ji's attachment to the world is therefore logical. There are hundreds of flowers in spring and the moon in summer, cool breeze in autumn and snow in winter. There are four seasons of grass and trees on the earth.
The art that moves people's hearts transcends national boundaries and time. The ancient folklore, life after life struggle, is still a problem in modern society. Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki, and Takahata are thinking from a human perspective. As for whether foreigners can appreciate the beauty of ink and wash, it is not certain, but in the East, there should be no obstacles? If there is, it may be the narrowness of the controversy about the source or attribution and the competition for various labels. This narrowness will also make this masterpiece unacceptable by some people, but let him.
All prisons are self-made. If you are willing to use hate to imprison yourself, this is also a kind of freedom.
Studio Ghibli, like Disney, is a dream factory. In such beauty, life and dreams should be released. Just like the feather garment that Kaguya Ji put on last, in fact, human beings are, death will come, and memory will eventually be lost. What humans can do is probably just to open up your whole body and feel when you can still feel the fresh life. And create beauty.
