Moving nonsense

Sophisticated moviegoers who are accustomed to seeing Akira Kurosawa and Hitchcock can hardly be satisfied with this 2005 American black light comedy film. Compared with "Seven Samurai" and "Rear Window", where every shot, every dialogue, and every scene is perfect, and the form and content are worthy of constant taste, "Matador" pales in comparison with a rough structure. The characters lack levels; and compared with Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, and the Coen brothers' quirky and profound, film noir and violent aesthetics, it is definitely not dark enough, cool enough, or ruthless enough. "Matador" is different from ordinary Hollywood genre movies. Although it has many commercial elements: explosions, cars, beautiful scenery, and sex, it is a work of reflection on entertainment violence, a work of a lone professional trying to return to warmth. .

The plot can be finished in a slightly longer sentence: a professional killer who has worked hard for 22 years is facing insurmountable burnout, a timid and cowardly merchandiser is facing a trough in his life, the two meet by chance in a bar in Mexico City, so They chatted together, watched bullfighting performances, simulated killings and finally rescued each other. This kind of plot design is naturally a bit familiar, and a two-word narration immediately pops up in my mind: nonsense!

However, the little bit of special and rich details in the movie slowly moved me. Although I was not completely convinced, it was enough to make me moved by this kind of nonsense. When the killer Julian suddenly visited the home of the salesman Danny and his wife six years after the meeting, when the nervous and excited hostess Bi learned that Julian was the killer who was visiting at midnight, she hid by the kitchen door while peeping. Julian exclaimed excitedly to her husband.
"Fuck me, what the hell?"
Her husband Danny looked back at her in surprise.
"Why? Can't I say bad words? Especially now!
Don't tell me this time, when?
Now is the best time for the
fuck to say "Fuck". Damn there is a killer, in his fucking ours Living room."
Then Bi turned to her husband solemnly,
"Do you think he would let me look at his gun?"

The tense and mediocre middle-class life seemed to suck up and fix everything they had. They supported each other, loved each other hard, and barely survived the pain of bereavement. The visit of Julian, a dangerous friend, opened up an exciting and exciting experience in their imagination. Fascinating world. And Julian, the lonely middle-aged man who was full of vulgarity, homelessness, and no friends to talk about, even though his marksmanship was accurate, skilled, and murderous, he looked enviously at them embracing each other on the sofa in his living room. There is nothing beautiful about killing, just as there is nothing beautiful about a bullfighter in a colorful coat stabbing a bull to death. He stabbed the cow to death not to hate it, but the enthusiastic audience needed to see the cow struggling, falling to the ground, and dying. He is tired of killing people, because this kind of thing is too cruel, too exciting, and eventually makes you lose your sense of the world, and eventually you can't even make love to him. The killer and the salesman live in the same way. The only thing in common is that the world is forcing them to do a tedious job that can be fired at any time. They have to do it, even if it suffers from it.

The most subtle part of the film is in the last three minutes. These three minutes turn around and are meaningful, reaching the climax of the film. After Danny helped the collapsing Julian kill the boss of the Killer Group, the scene was cut back to the hotel room in Mexico six years ago. In order to save his career, the desperate Danny asked Julian to kill his competitor.
"If this transaction fails, I don't know what to do next?"
"Are you sure I killed the stalker, your business must be successful?"
"They are my only competitors."
"Can you feel at ease?" "
" Hmm. "
" You can ignore the blood on your hands? "
" You can do it if you change to someone else, isn't it? The world will be done forever! "
Julian groaned for a moment, looking at Danny and said: "I won't do this for you. You are tired late at night. Your decision is just impulse. If I do it, you will regret it immediately. You will live in regret for the rest of your life. Trust me. "
"I'm so scared, Julian."
"People like you always think that you are unlucky, but you are the luckiest in the world. As long as you open your eyes and see clearly, your wife, she will wait for you at home. If I do this for you, you will be in your next life. I know you don’t want to do it, so I admire you. You are just the opposite of me. "

A normal life that is dull and boring is not really worthless. What you think is nothing may be the happiness of others, because Someone loves you, somebody still supports you unconditionally when you are most difficult, somebody is waiting for you to go home. Salesman Danny and killer Julian are mirrors of each other. The lively and ordinary movies here are very subtle and unique. These three minutes saved the entire movie.

This is of course a nonsense story. The killer has burnout for some reason. After a few drinks, he chats with strangers about unspeakable secrets. This is obviously not convincing, and the salesman has no other character besides his weakness. Word. Although the display of the scenery in various places in the film is beautiful, it is superfluous, and Julian's vulgarity is a bit too much. But this is possible bullshit, and the loneliness, sadness, helplessness and hope revealed in this bullshit story are not bullshit. The performance in Danny's living room in the middle part of the film, and the last part of the airliner and the room switching back and forth, is not nonsense, but a great Shakespearean drama. Art can make people understand the world and make people love the world more. Although nonsense, after watching "Matador", I really love this world where there are salesmen everywhere and killers are hidden.

Attachment: Pierce, the movie's lead actor and investor. Brosnan, the most handsome and elegant 007 actor of all time, is also the recipient of the Order of the British Empire. His second wife Smith recalled their first meeting and said: "He is so beautiful! Especially with his naughty eyes, I... Wow! Wow!". . . . . . A few days later, the two began dating, and she said, "We are holding hands under the stars, so happy that our minds seem to be setting off fireworks all the time, happy as if Kenny Rogerdie sings by the side, and we talked until three in the morning. "Smith said, "I know why women like him, because he respects women and loves women sincerely."

Obviously he is a man who is obsessed with his life. The precious thing is that he is still a responsible, responsible, and loyal man to marriage. The author who wrote this sentence in People Magazine must be a lady. She praised: a handsome man who suffocates a woman. Gentle, deep, kind, kind, family-oriented man, and loyal to women. How can such a good man not be our favorite?

An actor with such a reputation, for the sake of his role, hesitate to grow a mustache, abandon his usual romantic and chic, speak foul language in the movie, wink at ladies, drink and prostitute, although carelessness in his behavior will reveal a natural pleasing to the eye, but It's really respectable to be able to perform so hard.
