A nice evening

Good!

What I was afraid of was the last scene, when my brain burst out, and all the previous efforts of restraint were lost. As the saying goes, what you are afraid of. However, this one that should always come is really not easy to deal with.

Or, the play itself can only end here. What we are really afraid of being so involved in the play is that the little sunshine that the black daughter (she) brings to Cynthia will be destroyed by Cynthia (me)'s hysteria. We don't want this ending to come, it really didn't come.

It ruined so many foreshadowings, so many unspeakables, and ruined the complexity of life and the ambiguity of ideas with a simple speech and summary of "secrets and lies" in a way of point-pointing.

I can't say it is ruined, you see, the highlights in front are not all there!

1996 Cannes Palme d'Or. A family drama that is prone to chaos is described in Mike Lee's skillful schedule, with delicate emotions. The unscripted impromptu filming method makes the story as real and amiable as life. Fixed camera positions are often used. The 8min double mid-range fixed long mirror in the cafe is extremely powerful, and the heroine's Cannes queen is truly well-deserved. The interspersed branch of the photo studio basically uses the camera "subjective perspective" to observe life and the media consciously examine. (8.5/10)

Golden Strawberry: Similar themes need sensational elements to pave the way for the outbreak of the final ending. Mike Lee still shows traces of over-deliberation, which makes the movie feel like an interpretation. The photography and editing are very solid, but when I think of the "Home in the Snow Mountain" I watched this year, I can understand the secrets and lies better. Family gatherings, ancient and modern, all over the world, will sooner or later be a big drama, maybe this is human nature.

Secrets & Lies quotes

  • Cynthia: I only see her first thing in the morning. She comes in, grunts, then buggers off to work.

Maurice: You should be glad she's got a fella.

Cynthia: I am glad, Maurice. I want her to be happy. But I'd like her to bring him 'round, see who she's knocking about with.

  • Cynthia: Dad liked her, didn't he? Nice thighs.
