Like everyone, I was a little disappointed to see half of it. Just like everyone else, I guessed the plot very early.
But when I actually watched the movie, I denied my previous views.
First of all, I think the translation of this Chinese name is lacking. Of course, this cannot be blamed on the translators, this should be blamed on us Chinese audiences who are looking for excitement, they are just to cater to our appetite. Just as "Miller's Crossroads" was translated into "The Gangster", our audience lacked appetite for a literary name. If you translate it directly, it would be too ordinary, I don't think you will read it. Because in our opinion, good films have a resounding name.
Secondly, speaking from the plot of the movie, this movie really can't stimulate you today. Our audience wants to see a novel story every day, preferably one that he can't think of even if he wants to break his head. But this is the commonality of people. Forget it, no nonsense. I'm really interested in discussing our shortcomings again.
However, from the perspective of film art, this film tells a story, and the story is not bad. Unlike our movie, many unexplained stories, let you guess. Damn it, why am I so much nonsense.
If Rob had no sympathy and sense of justice, and ignored the hardships of the 200 people who followed him, he would not think about selling cows to make money for them to survive the winter, nor would he borrow money from the Marquis, so he would not be involved.
Had it not been for the shameless, hypocritical and greedy Marquis who raped Corning's mother when he was young, there would not have been such a shameful and lonely Corning. (This is based on the words and deeds of the Marquis and Corning. I don’t know if it’s an exclusive guess. I don’t think it will be.)
If Rob doesn’t trust his friend Alan and he personally withdraws the money, he won’t. Have cash.
If there was no shameless agent, Rob's friend would not have been tricked by Corning.
If Rob disregards dignity, even the dignity of others, and promises the Marquis to say that the Duke is a royalist in front of the nobles, there will be no trouble. There will be no such a perfect woman in love with him.
If Corning didn't hurt the maid, no one would know what he was doing with the Marquis agent.
If it weren't for not hurting the dignity of the Duke, I don't think Rob would have such a chance to be one-on-one with Corning in the end, let alone offset the debt.
However, this story did not give us what if, gave us a complete story.
Is it wrong for a compassionate and dignified man to fight for responsibility? Does he believe that his friend is at fault? Is it wrong for Rob's wife not to tell him that she was humiliated and feared that her lover would avenge her?
What is the purpose of a woman who lives strong after being humiliated? There is love in her heart. She loves her children and her husband. She knew that if she stayed in the house and was burned to death, she would have dignity, but her husband would take revenge. What would happen to the children and the home would definitely be ruined.
Love is responsibility. Dignity is responsibility.
Women love men, fall in love with his dignity. Men love women, love with their dignity and responsibility for love.
Don't want to say, sleepy, sleep. One by one, three stars, love to understand or not. I give five stars.
One last word. In your life, there will never be a lack of villains and people who plot against you, and you will not even lack a trustworthy friend like Allen. You may not lack people who love you. You can also have no lack of love for dignity. So, what do you lack?
