"I am a legend" is a good science fiction film. Although the plot is a bit old-fashioned and the ending is a bit bloody, the director's extraordinary skill and Will Smith's wonderful performance make this film still very exciting and worth watching.

Looking at the two different endings, although the first ending is more bloody, it is very deceptive. A perfect interpretation of a tragic legend, the struggle of a lonely man, he finally sacrificed himself to save mankind. And the second ending is very controversial, praised that this is the perfect ending, the hero finally survived, and it seems that it is easier to accept emotionally. Opponents think that this ending is simple and sloppy, not as shocking as the tragedy and hope of the first ending.
In fact, the second ending is more shocking than the first ending, and the second ending is not a perfect ending, on the contrary it is a dark ending. It's just that the plot is very dark and obscure, and it's not easy to understand. In the second ending, the night monsters are no longer zombies who only know to kill in the traditional sense, and they also have feelings. As a human doctor, when he watched the night demon holding his girlfriend and left, when he looked at the wall-covered photos of zombies that died because of his experimentation, he realized that maybe the night demon didn’t need it. His rescue, perhaps in the eyes of these night demons, he was the killer, so the doctor would collapse to the ground. In the second ending, the film ended when the doctor left the city. The human survivor quarantine area did not appear in the first ending, and the doctor did not have the serum that could fight the virus, and the hope of mankind was cut off. These details imply that the era of mankind is over, and the future of the earth may belong to the night demon.
In general, the second ending is more logical and more in line with the style of lonely humans in the film, giving people a more profound shock than the first ending. I admire the skill of Hollywood screenwriters. The same story has two completely different styles in two different endings. The first ending is a pure commercial film model, while the second ending has some deep reflections.
