Private Comment XMFC (Daily Serial)

I can't finish writing at a time, I write a paragraph every day. A little personal impression, pure watering. Welcome to discuss.
——————————————————
Since 2009, I first read Magneto Testament written by Greg Pak and Carmine Di Giandomenico. I hope that one day Marvel and 20th Century Fox will put it on the big screen of movies, becoming the first science fiction version of "Schindler's List". It is no exaggeration to say that this is one of the most fascinating Xmen story series I have read. It is not lacking in the thickness of history, the sadness of fate, reflections on social humanities, humanity, and heroism, and at the same time it is extremely rich. Storytelling, five mini series in one go, a reasonable interpretation of the original appearance of an anti-hero character, the environment in which he grew up, the cultivation of his character, and the birth of his lifelong beliefs. (There is a Chinese translation available online, and friends who are interested can search for it.)

Fortunately, my wish coincides with the decision makers of Century Fox. It is said that after this set of comics won the 2008 IGN Best Short Story Comics Series (this set of comics also won many other awards), the preparatory work for "X-Men Origin: Magneto" began. However, to my surprise, the movie I saw in the theater in the end had only a slight connection with Magneto Testament. It is neither adapted from Magneto’s last words and marvel comics, nor is it like the reboot I expected, but more like the prequel of the Xmen movie trilogy. However, in terms of narrative consistency, it’s right. The trilogy is not faithful enough... Then again, the confusion about the positioning of XMFC does not affect the viewing value of the movie itself-at least for me-the day after the first time. , I bought a ticket to enter the theater again, and so far, I have revisited it six times. It can be said that this is one of the best anime-adapted movies I have ever seen, and it keeps pace with my previous beloved TDK.

There are four reasons for me:
1. Apart from TDK ("Batman: The Dark Knight"), I have never seen other summer popcorn movies. I can bring these major and serious sociological propositions into a two-hour movie in a simple and simple way. The narrative is still not Lose its fun, fluency and integrity of causal logic.
2. As a summer blockbuster, the main audience is aimed at young people, and it turned out to be an authentic character-driven emotion movie. All fighting actions and the use of computer special effects serve the shaping of characters and the development of the story. It will not overtake the waste of film on behalf of the shop, it makes Transformers 3 look like a circus juggling troupe with a grass stage at the entrance of an opera house-but there is only a false excitement left.
3. In this post-Matrix and Avatar era, sci-fi movies have made great contributions to the concept of hyper-space vision. XMFC went upstream, and all the costumes and props are designed with a retro sense of sci-fi movies in the 1960s. It seems to be in the 1960s, but it does not enjoy the American fireworks in the 1960s in "Mad Man", but a remake of the semi-sci-fi scene of the Bond film of the Connery era. It is close to reality and far from it. This is similar to TDK's Chicago, which is not exactly like Chicago's Brothertown. Look at the small black-and-white TV in the submarine, wallpaper patterns, abstract paintings on the walls, wiring helmets made by hank for professors, original and old instruments, ending song x gene animation, etc., various design details, constitute a peculiar look and feel. Nostalgic tone. And this design style also serves the story itself: this film tells the origin of the two rival camps "Yao Xiang Gong Jin back then".
4. It is precisely because the script has already decided that this is a character-driven movie, so the individual performance of the actor plays a decisive role in the quality of the film. The overall performance level of Fassbender, McEvoy, Bacon, Lawrence, and XMFC casts is comparable to that of TDK. This is not the best Fassbender performance I have ever seen, but it is undoubtedly the top 5 performance in the marvel world. Even if it is holding the baton handed by Sir McKellen, it is by no means rude.

——————— The four reasons listed above will be explained in detail one by one.——————

1. The Point Between Rage and Serenity

Needless to say, judging from the box office and perception feedback after XMFC was released, it is not a movie that can meet the expectations of all audiences. Some negative opinions are related to the technical level of shooting. These opinions are benevolent. Qizhi has aroused a lot of sympathy among XMFC's fan base. However, there are also some original comics fans who are very obsessed with inferring the degree of loyalty of the plot of the movie to the plot of the comics, and even expressed anger at the adaptation of the plot, calling it the "worst anime movie". For this, the old Chinese saying goes well. : "Absent-minded, blinded, blinded, heard without hearing, eat without knowing its taste," I would like to say that the "expectation horizon" of this part of the audience (the psychological basis of aesthetic expectations in the acceptance of aesthetics) is narrow and unchanging, and they did not seriously examine it. The original comics and the main ideas of XMFC. This is somewhat regrettable: Ignoring the core meaning of Xmen, and walking into the movie theater just to relive certain storylines, how is it different from a person who buys a pine and returns a pearl?

What does the original comic of Xmen say? In the end, it is actually very simple. It talks about the relationship between the individual and the society, the minority and the majority. It sets up such a kind of people, mutants. They are the firstborn of Homo Sapiens Superior in the next stage of human evolution. They are the group that Nietzsche lamented that "some people are born after death"-they belong to Their future era has not yet come, and they are already incompatible with the era in which they live. A series of "conflicts and reconciliations" have occurred between individuals and groups. XMFC highly conforms to the main theme of the original work. What it tells is the beginning of all these contradictions, and the reactions of representative characters to these contradictions or similarities or differences.

The structure of this movie is established by comparison and reference. The double-stranded pattern of genes that recursively appear in the ending song, the form of constant entanglement, confrontation, union and division, is the mutation of the two genes. People, portrayal of the relationship between erik and charles. The first segment of the movie is Erik Lehnsherr's childhood segment, and the second segment is Charles Xavier's childhood segment. Next is the young erik's journey to hunt down the Nazis, which corresponds to the academy life of young Xavier. They are two yin and yang fish, the direction is reversed and the head and tail are connected. They are like the opposite of the same coin. They do not know each other's existence, but they also live in the great era of the Cold War and the rise of the civil rights movement, the country and the country. The disputes between the mutant groups and the government's rights and interests will eventually affect their personal life journey. They are united because of these contradictions, and they are strangers because of the occurrence of the next contradiction. If there is a sequel to XMFC, I expect that they will be like the XM trilogy and FC.

Matthew Vaughn's film alludes to their contradictory struggle and unity in various ways. Coins, gene chain, black and white chess... Without the help of Xavior, there would be no superpower enhancement of Erik, which made him lack the strength conditions to become the Magneto King. Without the influence of Erik on the political pursuit of freedom and independence, No professor finally gave up his naive illusions and dependence on the government and secretly established the X-Men's lifelong career. X tells M that the real focus of attention is between Rage and Serenity. The relationship between the two of them, with other enemies and friends, and the social environment is not so opposed and consistent.

With Erik’s radicalism and Charles’ gentleness; with Erik’s grief and anger, and Charles’ amiableness; with Erik’s sophistication, and Charles’ innocence; with Erik’s vigilance, and Charles’ tolerance; and Erik’s disappointment with humanity, as for Charles Confidence in human nature... the conversation between them speaks for the differences between philosophers on the theory of the evil and the good of human nature throughout the ages.

Erik, a German-born Jewish man, said that he is inherently evil. He undoubtedly feels the same as Schopenhauer. "The most fundamental character of man is selfish" because he believes that human beings will be wiped out by ensuring their own interests. Alien ethnic group. He was also clearly influenced by Nietzsche’s “Superman”: “Humans are unequal” (not inequality in the meaning of legal rights). He emphasized to Charles, “We are already better people.” He looked forward to "One day, you will become a race: you have chosen yourself, and there will be a race from you in the future, and Superman will be born from this race." (Nietzsche), everything he will do in the future is In order to ensure that this new minority group will not be strangled by the old group before it becomes the majority of society, and will eventually take over the world. To this end, he can take all means, even his actor Fassbinder said Magneto is a Machiavellianist, and judges meaning by the result (Fassbender’s original words in an interview with IGN: It's like I see him as very much a Machiavellian character-the ends justify the means. ). In his view, because human nature is ultimately self-interested, the social order is "unbreakable and not established."

On the contrary, "In the beginning of human beings, nature is inherently good... Don't teach, and nature is a change." Charles upholds the theory that human nature is inherently good. He asks Erik to help him educate and guide the mutants so that they will eventually become "better people". Charles, who said this, is like the spokesperson of Confucius Mencius, "The goodness of human nature is as good as water. No one is bad, no water is inexhaustible. Today's husband is water, fighting and holding it can make it pass. Exciting action can make you live in the mountains. It is the nature of the water! The situation is the same." He believes that acquired education can convey the existing moral and behavioral norms of human society to new groups. Introducing the minority group of mutants into the mainstream of society is like guiding the current situation. He approves of the order of the old group, maintains this order, and is committed to the coexistence of both sides. He even believes that Shaw can be influenced, and through negotiation or some other peaceful means, he can give up his plan to launch the Third World War. His relationship with Raven set the tone for this kind of enlightenment from the very beginning. The young Charles had decided that stealing was wrong, and the solution was "don't steal anymore, I'll give you food." He believes that he has the responsibility of father and brother to Raven (as he said to raven), and like all parents in the world, he does not want to see raven become a heresy in society, even if it is hidden. In his view, human nature is ultimately mutually beneficial, and a just (or fair) social order can be maintained through "I am for everyone and everyone is for me". When Erik questioned that humans would one day go to war against mutants, Charles said that if we risked our lives to help them avoid the suffering of war, they would not do this to us (to the effect).

They have different views on human nature, different worldviews, methodologies, and behaviors, and their respective ideologies are branded with strong marks of personal life experience. Prejudice and incompleteness are inevitable. Various internal and external factors are determined, and they are all-encompassing. , The divergences are very clear and cannot be eliminated. Time relationship, it is impossible to count these differences one by one. However, the prototypes of Erik and Charles in the comics are Malcolm Axe and Martin Luther King, which in turn determines that their two desires are essentially the same: working for the happiness and rights of mutants. As a result, they are attracted to each other and become allies. During the period when they cooperate with each other, their own world is delayed, their personalities are complete, and their wisdom and abilities also explode with the effect of "1+1=∞".
