Actresses flood this movie (Kate Hudson, Fergie, Judy Dench, and Sophia Loren also star ), each getting a brief cameo and a song apiece, but it is only Marion Cotillard who manages any emotional pull, playing the long-tortured wife. And out of all these Oscar nominees, it's Fergie who surprisingly comes out with the one show- stopping musical number. (Her stripper dance is sooo damn hot...=.=)
Daniel Day-Lewis shines as always. He smokes a lot, looks good in retro sunglasses and suits. I love one key scene Luisa says to Guido:
(Luisa): Thank you.
(Guido): What for?
(Luisa): Thank you for reminding me I'm not special. You don't even see what you do to me. Even the moments I think are ours, it's just... you working to get what you want.
There's little humor, no heart and precious little “angst” to his predicament — luring and using women. But then, nobody will be crying for Tiger Woods, either.
I won't say any more, as I don't want to spoil this for anyone. It's certainly not for everyone.
