Description of White Screen 60 : White screen refers to ordinary white screen. If high gain white screen is used, the score can be increased by 1-2 points. Except for RealD which mainly uses metal screens (not ruled out that some studios use ordinary white screens to save costs), other technologies in China are mainly ordinary white screens and high-gain white screens, and the most widely used XPAN-D and Dolby stand-alone 3D It is based on ordinary white screen. Both MasterImage and Dolby 3D refer to stand-alone systems.

There are several kinds of dual-camera 3D, such as Dolby dual-camera 3D, Polar dual-camera 3D, RealD dual-camera 3D, MasterImage dual-camera 3D, etc. 3D glasses separation technology), all are circularly polarized, the effect is similar, but the glasses are different. The most obvious difference between dual camera and single camera is that there are two projection windows at the back of the theater (you can see
it when you look back). If the studio replaces a high-power light bulb, the score can be increased by 1-2 points.

--Introduction to 3D technology

Everyone knows that the focus of 3D projection is how to separate the images of the two eyes, and the separation process is generally divided into two steps. The first step is to project the images of the left and right eyes separately on the screen, and the second step is to receive the images of the left and right eyes separately through glasses.

The best way to separate the projection is to use two projectors to project the left and right eye images respectively (so-called dual-camera 3D), which is the most direct and best, with no loss of brightness, contrast, saturation, and resolution. Two-camera 3D including IMAX 3D do this.
The dual-system system uses two projectors, so it is expensive and rarely used.
The other methods are the stand-alone 3 times frequency time difference alternate display, that is, the projector continuously switches and projects the left and right eye images. This will directly lead to the loss of brightness, and at the same time it is easy to appear trailing. This type of system requires the use of a synchronization device either at the lens or at the glasses. Once the synchronization device is used, it is likely that the left and right eye images correspond to errors due to improper synchronization and ghosting occurs.

The stand-alone system can be divided into two types: active and passive.
The active type is to install a synchronous electronic device to control the synchronous switch of the shutter of the left and right glasses. XPAN-D, which is common in China, is of this kind. Although such devices are more expensive (700 yuan per pair), they are widely used in China because the projection system is cheap. But the synchronization of XPAN-D is the most error-prone. And because shutter glasses are the darkest of all technologies, there will be a strong urge to take off the glasses.
In the passive type, a synchronized image splitting device is installed at the lens to perform different processing on the left and right eye images, and then the left and right eye images are received separately at the glasses.
Commonly used in China is Dolby 3D, which separates the light into different wavelength bands by adding a synchronized filter wheel to the lens and then receives it separately through glasses. The Dolby 3D system is easy to modify and the glasses are cheap (a pair of dozens of pieces), and it is widely used in China. But Dolby 3D has a great influence on color performance.
RealD is the mainstream in developed countries and is less used in China. This technology is achieved by installing a synchronized Z screen on the lens, and then receiving it through circular polarized glasses. Now RealD is equipped with equipment to eliminate ghosting, so the effect is better. Because a metal screen must be installed, the cost is relatively high.
The principle of MasterImage is similar to that of RealD. It is also circularly polarized, but it appears earlier than RealD. The synchronization device installed in front of the lens is a backward wheel instead of a Z-screen, and there is no ghost image processing device. Some old 3D halls in China use this technology, and the specific effect is estimated to be similar to RealD.
The reception of the two-machine system is only passive, and all use polarizers. IMAX 3D uses a relatively backward linear polarization. The disadvantage is that the head cannot be tilted when looking at it. The circular polarization used in dual-camera 3D does not have this problem.

--The huge impact of the screen type on the brightness (metal screen>high gain white screen>normal white screen)
3D projection is the most serious problem in the split image brightness loss, so it is generally necessary to replace the ordinary white screen with a higher reflectivity The screen compensates for this problem. The RealD system is all metal screens, while Dolby 3D is not all metal screens. Please consult the studio staff for the types of screens used by other systems.

--Several indicators (in order of importance)

that determine the look and feel of 3D movies. Crosstalk: that is, the degree of interference between the left and right eye images, and the look and feel is reflected in ghost images. All dual-camera and dual-mirror systems do this very well. The stand-alone system generally has a lot of crosstalk because of the need for synchronization, but RealD>MasterImage>Dolby 3D>XPAN-D. It is especially worth noting that XPAN-D is likely to have a synchronization error (the waiter uses the machine to do this when entering the venue) (I encountered it), the impression is expressed as long-term high ghosting, please immediately Contact the waiter to exchange.
Brightness: The unit is lumens, which largely depends on the power of the projector lamp. The farther the viewer is from the screen, the more the brightness attenuates when it reaches the human eye. Regardless of the curtain, the dual-camera system is better, while the single-camera system is more serious (if you don’t use metal screens, XPAND is only 1/5-1/6 of 2D movies, and Dolby stand-alone 3D is 1/3-1 /4). If you use a metal screen (such as RealD, Dolby Dual 3D, please consult the studio for details), this problem can be greatly improved.
Visual distortion: The larger the angle between the viewing line and the projected light at the location, the greater the visual distortion. The seat closest to the projection window is definitely the least deformed. Visual distortion is fatal to the display of three-dimensional effects. Sitting in a very remote position will directly cause the actual picture you see to be very different from the original picture projected by the projector, which will seriously affect the three-dimensional effect. So for watching 3D movies, choosing a good location is very important, even more important than what version to watch.
Glasses weight: naturally the smaller the better, especially if the glasses are light, it is convenient for myopic students to wear two glasses to watch (for students with different vision in both eyes, they must wear glasses, otherwise they will be dizzy). RealD, dual-camera 3D, IMAX 3D, MasterImage Field of view: one is the size of the picture in the field of view-depending on the screen size and distance from the screen; the other is the picture in the field of view when viewed in a normal sitting position Is the position too off? Generally, the position in the middle of the last few rows is the best. In addition, it is best not to be blocked by your head. This mainly depends on the design of the height difference between the front and rear seats of the theater.
Contrast: the difference in brightness between the brightest part and the darkest part.
Saturation: The vividness of the color depends on the ratio of the color component and the decolorizing component-gray. Dolby standalone 3D is not only a problem of saturation, but also a problem of color reproduction.
Sharpness: depends on the resolution, that is, the number of pixels, the film format can be calculated by the number of film grains. The further away from the screen, the less important the resolution. It is generally difficult for the human eye to distinguish between the relatively high resolution range and the relatively long viewing distance of commercial cinemas. Therefore, the importance is ranked last.

There is a vivid metaphor for the difference between single and dual cameras. The former is like a gun version, and the latter is a high-definition DVD version.
In addition, it seems that IMAX 3D may have a more prominent feeling than other technologies because of special processing, and it is easier to produce the feeling of the scene floating around.

--Common movie copies and their resolution (how many K refers to the number of pixels in the width)

1.3K numbers: only domestic films and imported batches can be shown, and Avatar does not have such copies.
2K digital: non-film version of Avatar, regardless of 2D or any kind of 3D, this resolution is
4K digital: the highest resolution digital copy at present. The resolution is only 2K when showing 3D movies.
35mm film: 35mm film is used in ordinary cinema film projectors. The resolution is approximately equivalent to 3k.
70mm film: Film IMAX uses, the resolution is approximately equivalent to 6k. However, because Avatar was shot digitally, and the film IMAX copy was converted from DMR, the actual resolution is not as good as digital IMAX.

- 3D technology each location and personal experience watching videos

Avatar is the first real commercial film shot in 3D, post-production is 3D The 3D effect of the CG animation of the company cannot be compared with it. This factor has been considered when scoring, and the principle of the equipment and the evaluation of other netizens will be integrated. Of course, I haven't watched them all myself after all. I plan to experience them gradually after the heat drops. Children's shoes that have been compared are welcome to comment on this article.

Avatar quotes

  • Jake Sully: [collector's extended cut] You want a fair deal? You're on the wrong planet. The strong prey on the weak, it's just the way things are. And nobody does a damned thing.

  • Corporal Lyle Wainfleet: [seeing Jake in a wheelchair] Aww, man, that is just wrong.
