What the film wants to express can be summarized in the following two main contents and ten small points:
1. The U.S. government and military are stupid, not only stupid, but also extremely arrogant: 1) The United States, from politicians to military officers, is living in the dream of "America is invincible, sending democracy, freedom and peace to the savage and backward areas", and I didn’t want to wake up from death, and totally refused to admit that I was just a war criminal; 2) The administrative system and command system of the United States have long been rigid. Politicians and the military sneered at each other, despised each other, and dismantled each other, thinking that they were the only ones doing it. Personnel affairs, and the fact is that both parties are not doing personnel affairs; 3) The so-called "allies" of the United States are just empty shit, no country is willing to contribute to the aggressive war initiated by the United States, and the reality that the United States has long been isolated by the international community, Those politicians and soldiers are unwilling to face it; 4) American soldiers think that they are important, that the war they are engaged in and the cause they are dedicated to are very important. In fact, they are farting and have no meaning at all. They are just blind and arrogant. 5) Although the defeat of the war in Afghanistan is doomed, the high-level Americans refuse to admit it. They always think that as long as they change a general and another method, they can achieve victory. However, the facts will eventually prove that they are dreaming.
2. The U.S. war against Afghanistan will inevitably fail in the end and will only end in failure: 1) The nature of the U.S. war against Afghanistan is aggression, so it will inevitably lose. Even the best American soldiers cannot win a battle. In the war of aggression, it is even less possible to build a new Afghanistan during the aggression; 2) After the war, Afghan farmers can only rely on poppies (that) to make a living, because American capital does not allow Afghans to grow other than poppies (that). Any other agricultural products of the United States eventually turned Afghanistan into a poisonous den; 3) Afghanistan’s democratically elected government and head of state are only puppets fostered by the Americans. President Karzai is like a warrior in front of the U.S. military without any dignity. Naturally, it is impossible to represent the interests of the Afghan people; 4) American soldiers think that they are fighting against violent terrorists in Afghanistan, and the purpose of fighting is to protect the civilians of Afghanistan, but in fact they are fighting against the entire Afghanistan that opposes American aggression. People fight; 5) Americans wishful thinking that they can get the support of Afghans as long as they build schools and hospitals for Afghans and maintain social order, but the Afghan people only need Americans to get out of Afghanistan from beginning to end, leaving no one behind.
The above mentioned are the biggest advantages and disadvantages of the movie "Gears of War" in my personal view: I think it’s good because the film really thoroughly reflects on the nature of the war in Afghanistan and the evil nature of the United States. Straightforward irony; I think it’s not good because the content of the film is too much, and it’s too complicated. You can write a essay just by listing the main points separately.
