After watching this movie, I feel more deeply that making a comedy, or making a movie a bit bigger, is a very personal thing!
Since I am going to make this film, the premise must be that I want to do it, and once the filming starts, all the content or forms presented in the film are the ideas that I have concretized and perceived.
After watching this video, to be honest, I don't have many happy moments. The reason is that I often feel uncomfortable with Woody's exaggerated body movements. Secondly, Woody's irony and disgust towards technology also make me unable to understand. Imagine a chance to live in a modern society 200 years later than the original society. Woody's character Miles not only did not feel amazed and convenient for this, but attacked the absurdity of technology and its restraint on mankind.
Orgasmatron (orgasm device) is the most typical object of proof. This thing is simply a pile of scrap iron for Miles, because compared to the machine that enjoys sex in less than ten seconds and makes people enjoy orgasm, Miles is concerned about his performance in sexual skills. Especially confident.
Although this film is a science fiction film, it does not give me a sense of looking forward to the future living environment and technology. On the contrary, it makes me feel that I should enjoy the freedom and fun of living in my own time. This is how Woody makes people feel this indirectly through scenes, acting skills, and soundtrack.
The most direct and obvious point of view in the film is Luna's question to Miles at the end. "Sex and Death" is Woody's firm belief.
All in all, it doesn't matter who watched this film or not laughed, it doesn't matter whether you can understand the intention of the director is what I think is the most important thing. Of course, Woody doesn’t value these things. As I said before, making movies is always a very personal thing. Woody doesn’t make the kind of movies whose goal is to be popular. He will only make what he wants to make. In movies, he also tried his best not to try to figure out the public's psychology, so as not to lean towards ease and family fun (in creation).
Therefore, after watching this film, whether you smile or not, it is secondary, and the priority is the key.
