See Weizhi's Feminist Comedy

This is how the waitress Jenna rediscovered herself and found the story of life, warm and unconventional, real but touching. No wonder this film will arouse hot reviews at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and stingy film critics have praised it. It is a well-produced and moving comedy, and Fox Film Company spent 4 million US dollars to buy the distribution rights of "The Waitress".

Jenna’s story seems to have happened around us. Her life was unsatisfactory. Her husband Evan is a selfish person, very fragile, jealous and strong. There is no happiness in Jenna's life. She wants to leave her husband and escape from a bad life. She saved enough money for this, but she became pregnant at a critical moment. Jenna works in Joey’s restaurant. Making delicious pie is her specialty and her only sustenance in life. She can improvisely express her happiness, anger, sorrow and sorrow in all kinds of pie, and all kinds of food are made alive by her. The color is fragrant. Her pie evoked memories of the young doctor Palmet, they fell in love, Jenna also thought that Palmet could save her life, but Palmet had a family. Jenna is waiting for the birth of a child in the "hope-despair" cycle. All the hardship was exhausted, and new hope came. Faced with her peaceful and beautiful daughter, Jenna finally mustered the courage to drive her husband away, rejected Dr. Palmet and started a new life with confidence.

Women's disadvantaged position makes them often fear the changes in their lives, just like Jenna and her companions, who would rather steal the fish secretly, have to maintain a life that has long been broken, and dare not let them go. Jenna's cooking skills are a symbol of women's self-confidence. They have great power but do not know it, but one after another they look for trustworthy men as sustenance. Whether it's her husband Evan or the doctor Palmet, they just used Jenna's weakness over and over again, so I like the end of the movie. Without men, women can still live, and it's a better and freer life!

In the movie, there are laughter and sadness. The ups and downs of Jenna's life are magnified in subtle places, seemingly plain, and the authenticity conveyed makes people feel sad. Those jokes are neither deliberate nor clichés that are common in comedy movies, nor are they salty and wet as Hollywood's trademarks, with a meaningful aftertaste. It is a pity that the director and screenwriter Adrienne Shelly was assassinated at home last year. It is a pity that he failed to see the success of the film with his own eyes.

At the beginning of the story, the ending was totally unimaginable. This is the real woman. "My dear child, I hope that one day someone can hold you for twenty minutes, just like that, don’t push you away, don’t look at your face, don’t kiss you, just hold you tightly There is no selfishness in the arms.""
