In the movie, there are laughter and sadness. The ups and downs of Jenna's life are magnified in subtle places, seemingly plain, and the authenticity conveyed makes people feel sad. Those jokes are neither deliberate nor clichés that are common in comedy movies, nor are they salty and wet as Hollywood's trademarks, with a meaningful aftertaste. It is a pity that the director and screenwriter Adrienne Shelly was assassinated at home last year. It is a pity that he failed to see the success of the film with his own eyes.
