Some people say that this film tells us that faith is innocent, but faith may be wrong. But I think this film has nothing to do with belief, at least it is anti-belief. Not to mention inspirational. Frankie went to the church every day, looking for something, but found nothing.
Regardless of whether the belief is right or wrong, belief is obtained by giving to the nature of people, that is, in the process of gaining faith, people lose themselves, whether he is a communist or a fascist, whether he is an actor or an athlete. Because he has a goal, that goal occupies the most important part of his life, and everything else can be thrown away. This is the source of the tragedy of Frankie's life.
What the hell do you want!
Maggie didn't have a dream, Frankie gave it to her, and Frankie didn't have a dream, it was Maggie who gave it to him. This dream brought them to the glory and the end. The root of the problem is that, in their subconscious minds, both Maggie and Frankie just want a warm family, a dog, a clay house, and a lemon pie. And that brilliant dream is a substitute, even though it can't replace anything.
Fortunately, at the last moment of Maggie's life, they got it from each other. This is the most important thing they got, although it was only a moment, enough.
This is not an inspirational film, this is a portrayal of human nature.
Is Frankie's choice right or wrong? If you accept faith, you must accept everything that faith brings. The story of the winner, the prince, and the loser, is a comedy, but the chances of becoming a tragedy are greater.
So when many people and media, movies and articles encourage and appreciate works of kindness, such as inspirational works, which inspire everyone's progress, pessimistically, this is the first step to push most ordinary people into the fire pit of annihilating their nature.
Why does this film take away the Oscar? I think the judges have understood what this film is trying to say.
One more thing, I gave it five stars. I think professional film critics will never give it. That would appear to be a problem with their taste. They will weigh the lens' acting connotation with strict standards that exceed the Oscar judges, etc., I will not, simple story , To give people anti-secular enlightenment, worthy of five stars. From a balanced perspective, a film as profound as "8 and a half" will not lack stars, but this one will.
