iceberg and whale

There is an iceberg theory that a person's ego is like an iceberg and we can only see very little of the surface. Hemingway also likened that seven-eighths of a writer's thoughts and feelings are hidden behind the words. I also thought about a whale theory before: most people think as much as a whale, you can't hunt a whale by yourself, so you can't understand a person. All you can do is let the whales swim freely.

That's what Stewart is in the movie. If you don't know more about him, all you know is that he's a guy who walks bumpily, likes to bump his head, spit, and swears, but if you put your head below sea level, you'll find that He had such a miserable childhood. People in this society are probably like this too. You can't really understand a person because you haven't experienced that person's past. But you can't forgive the wrong things you do now because of your past, because everyone has more or less tragic past.

Therefore, it is very difficult to truly have great love and love all beings. Influenced by books and movies, I used to think that the meaning of human existence is to love and be loved, but I found that was impossible. What I think about now is to treat group dedication, and I also want to do volunteer activities to love people in this way. It is not that loving someone is good for everyone, but devoting to doing things that are good for the group.

In the movie, the icebergs or whales in Stewart's heart can still be recorded. In this world, so many people's icebergs or whales seem to never exist in the end.
