Not surprisingly, the good listening girl won the 94th Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor. This film tells the story of a young girl with singing talent, Ruby, who broke through the obstacles of a deaf-mute family, made a difficult choice between her dream and her family, and finally got the encouragement of all her parents and brothers to successfully enter Berkeley College. The director depicts the incomparable beauty of dreams, love, family, and teacher-student friendship with the rich body movements and delicate shots that are unique to deaf people. Ruby's parents and brothers are both deaf and mute, but she is the only one with normal hearing. Their family makes a living by fishing and selling fish. Ruby gets up at 3 am every morning to go fishing and help the family manage the business. For a few hours, she went to school on time at 8:00. In class, she would always fall asleep, her body would always exude a fishy stench, and she was ridiculed by her classmates. Going to university was a dream for her. What she didn't dare to think about, because she knew very well that without her at home, the business would be paralyzed, and the family's life would be lost. Ruby not only has normal hearing, but also has an extraordinary singing ability. She was discovered by her teacher, Mr. V, who encouraged Ruby, saying that she could go to Berklee College of Music.
