One of the biggest differences between watching Korean movies and domestic movies is that the entire narrative process of Korean movies is a little bit more in-depth, straightforward, detailed, reasonable, more appropriate and true. In short, Korean movies are basically more than many domestic movies. After thinking a little more, it is more cinematic, delicate and focused.
Although the times are different, I still want to compare some aspects with the recently popular "Changjin Lake".
"Ming Liang Sea Battle" is more stable and delicate. The opening chapter focuses on the overall situation of the North Korean front army, morale, equipment strength, the situation of the Japanese army, and the past and hatred of the enemy. in a difficult atmosphere. The overall tone: serious, serious, and full of melancholy.
In contrast, "Changjin Lake" seems ordinary and tacky. It starts from a family and leads to the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. There is no description of the domestic military strength and the situation of the U.S. military, South Korea, and North Korea. It starts directly from a meeting with volunteer troops. U.S. confrontation. Instead, a naive boy like Yi Yang Qianxi was involved throughout the whole film. This setting determined the height of the film from the beginning, and the seriousness was greatly reduced. Adding too many slapstick entertainment scenes that do not help the development of the plot is superfluous in contrast with the serious war of resistance.
In terms of characters, Yi Sun-sin in "Ming Liang Sea Battle" is definitely an unforgettable character. There is nothing worth remembering about Wu Jing and Yi Yang Qianxi in "Changjin Lake". Lei Gong has some personality, and the self-sacrifice that lacks logic in the end has little meaning.
Changjin Lake was directed by three directors. The previous battle was reasonable, but when it came to Changjin Lake, it fell into some chaos . Even the all-powerful characters in the movie world seem to have no absolute and clear control over the movie screen, and the radio stations involved are only simply mentioned without any special attention. In terms of distribution, wouldn’t it be more conducive to the delicacy of the story if the time and space narratives spent on Yi Yangqianxi could be used to show how our army confronts the US military, and to show our army’s wisdom and tenacity? This is one of the biggest differences between Korean films and Chinese films.
Use of time and space.
Mistaking the time for Yi Yang Qianxi does nothing to improve the quality of the entire film. There are too many dimensions involved in the opening chapter, one is the national leader, the other is the family, the third is the army, and the fourth is the participation of 50,000 miles. Although a family's point of view has merits, the final presentation does not help the development and compactness of the plot, and only causes trouble. This is a common problem! ! ! ! ! ! Many movies are superfluous and powerless because of adding traffic niche.
Back to "Ming Liang Sea Battle".
128 minute version. The whole film can be divided into three parts, one is the foreshadowing, the narrative of both the enemy and the enemy; the second is the frontal battle that takes up a long time - the less wins the more; the third is the ending after the war.
I don't think we need to pursue the real situation of this history, but how to tell similar stories at a higher level.
The positioning of the film: serious, serious. In this kind of scene, try to avoid some waste of time and space that is not helpful for the development of the plot, such as the fifty thousand miles of "Changjin Lake" (Yi Yang Qianxi), a pair of young people in "The Wandering Earth", these are superfluous pulls A waste of time and space at a low cinematic level. An outstanding director will never leave a trace of time and space to unnecessary characters, and has abandoned it from the beginning of the role setting, and the practice of finding a traffic niche from time to time in China to ensure a box office has been missed from the beginning. Harvested the box office is still not a masterpiece, it looks good, but in fact it still can't make it to the stage.
Not to mention that the production of some scenes in "Changjin Lake" is indeed too fake.
"Ming Liang Sea Battle" is not only shocking, it does not seek a comprehensive narrative, but focuses on showing a naval battle in which less wins more with wisdom and planning, not just to protect the family and defend the country. Always remember the history of Japanese aggression, national ambition has become an inalienable nature, and the heart of preventing Japan is absolutely necessary.
The filming is really good, the prelude has a tense atmosphere, and the whole scene is heavy. It is the most watched movie in Korea. 1/3 of Koreans have seen the movie.
Unlike some of the top-grossing flicks that follow the hype, this one is really good.
