Last night, I watched director Li Changdong's new work [Poem], and the feeling of suffocation in my heart is still lingering.
The protagonist of [Poem] is an old lady (played by Yin Jingji) who is over sixty years old. One day, she participated in a poetry writing class, and when she was looking for inspiration to write poetry, a series of things happened around her, about herself, about her grandson, about her grandson's classmates, and about her. There are many beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers in the male host's...
[poetry], but in the tranquility of the beautiful scenery, there is a touch of sadness, which makes Li feel heartache. The most impressive segment is the most unforgettable moment in the life of the students who wrote the choir. Bringing together the little things in the eyes of others can turn out to be extremely moving.
Director Li's works are full of love for ordinary people; he uses delicate brushstrokes to describe the joys, sorrows and sorrows of small people, and with his own eyes, criticizes the influence and harm caused by time and society to these people. The woman who seeks redemption in [Miryang], the man who embarks on the path of self-destruction in [Mint], and the old lady in [Poem], their pain must be difficult for many viewers to let go of.
The trickle of water in the poem is like life that never ends; one generation goes, another generation picks up. I hope the director's inspiration will also never end. Looking forward to his new work.
