film censorship system

I've always been skeptical about the film's purpose. In addition to reflecting the Iranian society, the director suspects that he also wants to ridicule the Iranian film system.

As soon as the little loli got in the car, the movie became the tone of the rant. The director borrowed Little Loli's mouth like a cannonball to spit out the Iranian film censorship system.

Like other Islamic countries, Iran is very conservative (in fact, Iran is one of the most open countries). China's film censorship pales in comparison to Iran's. What is not allowed to talk about political and economic topics, prohibition of contact between men and women and language ambiguous and so on. The most incredible thing is that the positive characters are not allowed to use Persian as their surname, and cannot wear a tie (a tie is a symbol of the West?), it is better to use the name of the Prophet Muhammad (I finally understand why Muhammad grabbed a hand in the Iranian movie) So Most Iranian films feature harmless family children and the like. Jafar Panahi's films are full of taboos.

So when Little Loli explained the film censorship system, I smiled. It turns out that all the plots in front of the director are to satirize this huge shackle. But maybe because the director is too eager, this film seems to be poor. At the end of the film, he expanded some metaphors and innuendo, and the original dark humor was explained too much, as if he was afraid that the foreign judges would not understand. In this way, the subtle beauty of the movie is lost, and it seems a bit resentful.

But no matter what, we still have to offer a rose to these directors who bravely reflect reality and fight against unreasonableness.

[Exhibition at China Film Archive] One person, one car, one fake documentary, watching the human feelings in Tehran, and explaining various issues in contemporary Iran: the death penalty system, the status of women, pirated films, religious beliefs, film censorship, and judicial injustice. Under the circumstance of being banned from filming, Jafar Panasi inherited the creative method of Abbas' film "10", insisted on creating and speaking under extremely limited and harsh conditions, which is worthy of admiration. In the movie, it is the director and the lawyer who play themselves. Behind the creation, it is the U disk hiding the film transnational transmission, the niece receiving the award, and the female lawyer being sentenced to prison. It is the film that shines into reality, and it is reality that shines into the film.

This new work of Jaffa is a movie that has once again come to life after "This Is Not a Movie"; the film blurs the boundary between reality and fiction, and to a certain extent is the "survival of the image." As for the many ideas derived from the discourse of this film based on China's national conditions, it is within reason. Electronic wills, goldfish renewal, DVDs sold by pirates, maidens read censorship regulations, and musicians independently issue CDs, all penetrating the media, which is extremely enjoyable.

Taxi quotes

  • Nasrin Sotoudeh: They work in a way that let us to know they are watching us.Their tactics are obvious.First, they write you up a police record. Suddenly, you are accused of being an agent for Mossad, The CIA, or MI6. Then they tack on something about your morals, your lifestyle. They make your life into a prison.Although you are released from prison, but the outside world is only a bigger prison. They make your nearest friends into your worst enemies. After that you think all you can do is either leave the country or pray to return to that hole. So i think it's better to let it go.

  • Jafar Panahi: Those films are already made, those books are already written. You have to look elsewhere, you have to find it for yourself.
