Rick is the most egoistic person. Even if it is an organization established by himself in a parallel universe, he is reluctant to join at the risk of being wanted, but he will fall in love with the union, this person who assimilates into the universe, I think it's a side note that he also needs some kind of warmth and understanding, like in the end he finds his daughter and grandchildren. I think judging from the note left by the consortium to Rick at the end, the consortium is the one who knows Rick the most and has the most equal relationship with him among so many people who have appeared. Birdman can also, but Birdman also has a feeling of worship in it. But he still left, and wrote that he was afraid of being assimilated by him. He explained that assimilating others was what he was best at, but Rick easily surpassed him. Choose to leave in order to maintain yourself. Two people can't be together because of their differences of belief, and Rick's choice to commit suicide is the last thing I can think of. I thought that if I was like him, I would definitely say goodbye with a smile. Perhaps this most primitive emotion is out of control. That ego and entanglement entangled in his heart. Often such people end up being emotionally entrapped. If you asked me what I liked most about Rick, I'd probably say I liked the way he was drunk and foul-mouthed.
