A few months ago, a friend of mine went shopping in Hong Kong, and there was nothing else worth talking about, but when he came back, he told me to watch "Shinjuku Incident" in Hong Kong, which made me very envious. In June, the editorial department organized everyone to go to Zhanjiang for vacation. On the long-distance bus on the return journey, "Shinjuku Incident" was actually played on the car TV, but it was a gun version. I sat very tangled in the car on that trip. I kept my eyes closed from beginning to end, and I tried to cover my ears with loud eminem slang songs, not to listen to a single line of dialogue, not to take a look at the pictures. I thought from the beginning that I must watch this movie at the right time and place.
This goal was finally achieved today, and Er Dongsheng proved to me that my perseverance was worthwhile. "Shinjuku Incident" is a rare good movie in Hong Kong in recent years. (Some of the following content involves spoilers)
"Shinjuku Incident" has the temperament of an epic movie. Er Dongsheng placed the Chinese experience in Shinjuku in the background of a triad president change, so that the development of the plot in many ways. In the conflict of interests, it is promoted step by step, and there is no need to exert too much personal initiative at all. This is my preferred type of narrative, it has a lot of believability and depth.
Each of the main characters in "Shinjuku Incident" is extremely full of character. For example, Jackie Chan's eldest brother, the iron head, has no way out or retreat because he was involved in a crime when immigrating, and because he saw his lover become someone else's wife, so he chose to go the wrong way to make a fortune, which was driven by unfortunate fate; For example, Ajie played by Wu Yanzu has always been the most timid and unlucky among the Chinese gang. Later, because he followed Jackie Chan to make a fortune, he took revenge on the society, but in the end, when he faced his old enemy, he was still overwhelmed with fright, and he was still a coward to death; People's eyes lit up, they usually see him respectfully, he is a reasonable person, and at a critical moment, he was the first to turn his face. , I can see people gasping for breath.
The two women in the film, Jiezi played by Xu Jinglei and Lili played by Fan Bingbing, completed their respective tasks satisfactorily, although they did not write much. They have no ability to change anything, but they create two unique touches of humanity in the film.
Actually, there are a few parts of this movie that worried me at first. The first one is an interlude when Jackie Chan and Xu Jinglei were in the Northeast. I am most afraid that Hong Kong movies will always make jokes when they talk about old China. But "Shinjuku Incident" was well avoided, not only without making a joke, but also quite bright. Jackie Chan drove a tractor and called him "brother-in-law", but he was driven into the glacier, which made people laugh. The scene where a group of peasants gathered to discuss how to use the excuse of the orphans of Japan's invasion of China to get into Japan also enhanced the film's sense of heaviness.
The second passage I am more worried about is the reunion of Jackie Chan and Xu Jinglei, and the acquaintance of Jackie Chan and Fan Bingbing. I am very afraid to see the entanglement and remorse of the former, and I am also afraid to see the mutual comfort and soft pornography of the latter. Fortunately, none of them appeared. Xu Jinglei has fallen in love with the vice-chairman Japanese, which is very realistic, and Jackie Chan is not too bad. It is really happy to have a "bombing Tokyo" with Wu Yanzu. Although the emotion between Jackie Chan and Fan Bingbing is very bland, it suddenly erupted at the moment when Fan Bingbing left in despair at the end, and it also had a strong impact.
The third paragraph that worries me is whether the rise of the Chinese in Shinjuku is convincing, and whether the subsequent fall will be too dramatic? After watching the entire movie, I let out a sigh of relief because it convinced me that this thing is actually going to happen.
To say whether the film "Shinjuku Incident" is a great achievement in art, that's not a big deal. Those messy shots are intertwined. Apart from making things clear, Er Dongsheng really has no spare energy to worry about other things, such as aesthetics or metaphors... The biggest feature of Er Dongsheng's films is the amount of information he has. It's rich, and I felt the same way when I watched "Disciple" before, and "Shinjuku Incident" took it to a higher level. Just like literary works, some people write novels, and some people write news reports. From different perspectives, both can produce excellent products.
For such a movie, without any decoration, it can make people immersed in a cold atmosphere. Ajie's sudden hand-off, Iron Head's last escape... become a picture that has been lingering in the hearts of every audience for a long time. Cruel picture. Recalling the ubiquitous detailing in "Shinjuku Incident", I have to pay tribute to Er Dongsheng.
