Immutable Kim Ki-duk

Kim Ki-duk is a rare director who maintains a high output of one film every year, and also insists on his own style and maintains a high quality. Sometimes even two a year, such as 2004, "Empty Room" and "Samaria", but still a wonderful high-level work.
This year's new film, called "Time", the poster gave me the illusion of a sci-fi film. The previous introductions can be summed up as "love and time" and "plastic surgery", so some people say that Kim Ki-duk has begun to change, and he has begun to pay attention to ordinary people or to talk about some hot topics. Of course, after watching the movie, you will see that this is just speculation. Kim Ki-duk hasn't changed at all, his focus has always been marginal. Even pop songs have lyrics like "Love is lost to time", and "plastic surgery" has almost become one of the symbols of South Korea, and Kim Ki-duk can easily make it crazy.
Almost every couple in the world is like Se Hee and Ji Woo, their passionate love will fade as time goes by. It's just that few people are as crazy as they are, and they have plastic surgery to make them look different so that they don't get bored. Plastic surgery, here is not to be beautiful, just to change a face.
I always felt like Kim Ki-duk's films were experiments. He creates an environment, puts some relevant people in it, and then observes how they behave. Since it is an experiment, this environment can of course be set arbitrarily, and these people are also magnified to the extreme. But such an experiment makes no sense at all.
Back to "love and time", how love can resist the passage of time. Change your appearance? It doesn't make sense to discuss "how", what in this world can resist the passage of time. Life cannot, let alone love.
The translations of Hong Kong and Taiwan have always liked to play tricks. This time, it is called "Lie Yan", which is very delicate and relevant, but I still feel that it is not as direct and essential as "Time". However, this translation is much better than the ones from previous years. I don't know if names such as "Lust Piercing the Heart" and "Empty Room Seduction" will attract more audiences.
