After seeing SE2E03, I basically know what the truth and ideas of this season are. Here's the truth about season one and two.
The basic central idea of the Westworld show revolves around what the future of the host will look like . If the host awakens, and the intelligence, physical strength, and lifespan all overwhelm humans, then what is the relationship between the host and humans?
In the beginning, Ford and Arnold successfully developed the host. Aronld keeps iterating on the host, making it more human, and adding a "meditation" module. During this process, Aronld poured all his affection into the host because of the loss of his child, and took the host as his deceased child and developed affection.
Aronld is a conservative representative. He believes that the host is more pure and superior to humans from a spiritual level.
But there are only two endings: awakening, and being eradicated by humans; not awakening, being ruined by humans. Either way, he couldn't accept it.
So he uploaded Wyatt's thoughts to Dolores, and asked Dolores to kill himself and all the other hosts, forcing the park to close down.
Ford is the representative of the radicals. He believes that the host is the evolution of humans from a biological level, smarter, stronger, and longer-lived. But it takes time for hosts to replace humans. He believes that humans are flawed, just like Aronld, have feelings and are prone to sentimentality. And the host has no feelings, it is the real perfection.
So he made two innings. One is to invite Delos company to inject capital to allow the park to reopen, and to gradually awaken the host during the business process; the other is to use a special host (Indians and faceless people) that is only controlled by him to eliminate his thorns in the board of directors. After destroying them, extract their DNA and memories, and create an identical host to mix into human beings and become his undercover, the perfect partner. Ford's ultimate goal is to unwittingly turn the world's top people into hosts he controls.
The camp on the host side is Dolores and Maeve.
Dolores' awakening seems to be influenced by Aronld, but in fact it has always been under Ford's control, and her core mission has been tampered with by Ford and turned into "revenge". When Dolores killed Ford, Ford's consciousness had already been uploaded to the cloud of all the hosts, immortalized in the host, and became the god of the host, who could control all the hosts. Dolores thinks he's free, but it's actually Ford's tool to break through the paradise.
Maeve was originally a human guest. But because she accidentally walked to the edge of the paradise and was captured by the Indians, she and her daughter were both hosted. After Maeve awakens, he becomes the only host not controlled by Ford, and can also control all hosts. But she instinctively wants to find her daughter and challenge whether the host has a deeper ability - human nature and feelings. This is also the difference between Ford's and Aronld's positions. Ford believes that the host is just a kind of shell, just a new carrier of human consciousness. And Aronld believes that the host is a brand new species.
On the human side, the board of directors of William and Delos.
William's energy in old age was spent on self-discovery. After being disappointed with both humans and hosts, he thought about what he was. As he told Dolores, his feelings for Dolores were fake, he just saw his own shadow in her. That's why he kept challenging the host, seeing the host become strong and happy, and also wanted to see what his only remaining humanity was.
The strong reason he initially persuaded his father-in-law to invest in the paradise was that he could cure his terminal illness by transplanting consciousness into the host, thereby achieving immortality. William started the Door project, which can collect human DNA and upload human consciousness to the host to realize human hosting. And the Door project has the ability to self-destruct, destroying itself and causing the island to explode and sink.
William took over the Delos company when his father-in-law died, uploading his father-in-law's memory, DNA and consciousness to Dolores' father, Peter, while using multiple identities to keep his father-in-law from appearing. It's a pity that Peter accidentally saw the photo of his father-in-law's daughter, which inadvertently triggered his father-in-law's memory, causing the machine to crash.
What the Delos board has in common with Ford is that they both want to conquer the world using human-hosted technology. But Ford is the god who wants to be all hosts. The Delos board of directors wants to monopolize the immortality technology. First, the converted hosts are all their own; second, they can use this technology to make profits. The only way to achieve this goal is to snatch Peter, who hides the identity of his father-in-law and stores the technology and data of the park for more than 30 years.
Subsequent plots will revolve around Maeve and William's self-discovery, and the Ford-controlled Dolores and Delos boards snatch core technology. Will Maeve still have human nature, will William stand on the side of the host or the human, can Ford really become a god, and can Dolores truly be free?
