In fact, cults are still rampant nowadays, they are hidden in some places we can't see, and they don't have the conditions to use these methods. However, there is another form of repeated prohibition, which is pyramid selling. In fact, physical coercion is far less powerful than mental coercion, but when a person no longer has the ability to think independently, this person is basically a waste. I have never been in an MLM organization, so I don't know how powerful the MLM organization's brainwashing skills are, but I know that the premise of brainwashing is based on our desires, such as the desire for money.
