The only reason I wrote this piece is I love love the character of Hugo in the movie and there aren't many fans commenting on it. Once I read about Anais' background, I am not so surprised that she was quite intrigued and fascinated by Henry, who is essentially a bit narcisstic Peter Pan at heart. June is absolutely sexy and irresistable. However, she was outshined by Anais passive elegance and quiet confidence blended with her brilliant mind/intelligence.
Among all, I love Hugo the most! His quiet confidence, his generosity, gentleman kind of sensibility and strength and cleverness and his very versatile talents, sports, music, instruments, his beautiful uncruel heart and his amazingly charming blue eyes. He just reminded me of someone who is on my mind. I wouldn't tell you who he is but I hope very much he and I will reunion fairly soon! ;)
What to say? For a girl to transform into a woman, she got to kiss a few frogs along the way. Henry, the ragged, jaded, free spirited, brilliantly intelligent blended with rebellion and failure and frustration, is indeed a definite charm to many many girls! However, he is not a keeper, he is the type for a girl to connect with her deepest desires, to know herself and thus, to transform. I know this may sound harsh. But we fall in love and marry often times for a reason, psychologically, people fall in love in order to re-create their childhood dynamics so that they can have a chance to heal their inner wounds... This is a bit deep.
I had my fair share of crappy ex boyfriend, the a bit dangerous, irresistable, charming, rebellious, selfish and innate uncaring type. That part of history is for me to understand about myself and about what I truly desire in my life and in my life's partner.
Hence, I am confident to say that Anais is a very intelligent lady and who also loves herself very much. That is why she would choose not to leave Hugo for Henry or June. By the way, I do not really believe that the marriage to Hugo has to be a dull, boring, routine type of thing. For the right one, there is always always a way to maintain that kinda spark, passion, thinking about Cleopatra!
That's why, not a man in that movie can outshine what Hugo to me! Anais is lucky and she really has someone who loves her for herself and more!!!
:)
