inescapable sadness

MC-5

is quite a quiet movie without any hustle and bustle. The whole film is filled with that kind of faint sadness, which is appropriate to keep your moving in your heart and eyes without venting it out. It may be very American, but the regret for the loss of life is indeed the same.

I wasn't particularly impressed with Kevin Bacon before, although I knew he was quite famous, imdb and found that I was not impressed with his roles in JFK, Frost/Nixon, and after watching this kind of hollow man, I didn't even have a movie Not to mention impressions. But after watching this film, my affection for Kevin has grown sharply. His interpretation of Colonel Mike in the film is very good. He has deep unease and guilt in his heart, but he has to hold back the whole process, until the last mantra reveals the natural truth. , and the interaction with people on the road is also unpretentious. But his performance will not be so eye-catching that the audience ignores the plot of the movie itself, which is quite natural.

I really didn't expect to see such a touching film at the end of 2009. It is definitely the work that moved me the most this year.

PS Is it because I have watched too much NCIS, I always have a special affection for Marine, and I am very excited to hear Semper Fidelis.

For soldiers, honor and respect are paramount. In Chance's country, soldiers live with faith and die with dignity. Although they do not determine the nature of the war, there is no doubt that they are heroic and respectable. Chances also live up to the Marines' motto "Always Loyal"

Taking Chance quotes

  • Rich Brewer: Nobody in my family's in the military and none of my friends. But I thought about joining up. Yeah, but I was too chickenshit.

    [chuckles, then silence]

Rich Brewer: Sorry, I mean too chicken.

LtCol Mike Strobl: You can say shit.

Rich Brewer: Oh, cool. And plus the whole haircut thing. I'm in a band and, you know, you gotta keep it long to keep the ladies happy.

  • 1st Lt. Dan Robertson (Chance Phelp's platoon commander): [voiceover, from his 09 April 2004 letter to the Phelps family] It's ironic, but I am certain that if the world had more men like Chance Phelps, there wouldn't be a need for a Marine Corps.
