Escort Chance is undoubtedly the main theme of the movie, the main theme of the United States, the main theme of marine, the main theme of the Iraq War. The remains of the fallen privates were escorted back to their hometowns by senior officers who were single-minded (line) and escorted back to their hometowns until burial. Along the way, they were in airports, highways, and the countryside, and received the respect, honor and dignity of Americans they had never met ( The original story), the flat and linear plot, the silent male protagonist, and the desolate scenery of a road movie made me feel heavy and depressed when watching the film. It wasn't until at the end that real images of Chance's living prototype emerged that I was relieved.
The film bypasses the interpretation of the war, and even the cause of Chance's death is revealed through the narration without images and the memories of Chance's former comrades-in-arms at the end. Whether the war is just or not, whether it is successful or not, history will come to a conclusion, but the young lives that have passed away are indistinguishable between us and the enemy. In this sense, I give this film 4 stars :)
From Top Gun to True Lies, the Americans have ridiculed these "villain" countries in the Middle East all over the place, to today's escort Chance, instead, they are a lot more restrained and peaceful A lot, I guess, also has something to do with the actual American GIs getting bogged down on the battlefield, right?
