The bookstore lives up to its name.

Just finished watching this movie today. The movie is almost calm from beginning to end, which fits the title of the movie "Bookstore". The topic of oppression by power has existed in ancient and modern times at home and abroad, and it is also shown in this film. The film really reflects the struggle between a helpless woman who lost her husband and a powerful general's wife, and the result is predictable, Mrs. Green failed. The film did not give Mrs. Green a golden finger and let her bow down to the power, which is a big praise. There have been many tragedies in history, and the reality is shown, rather than blindly beautifying, the audience may be more willing to accept it.

British sketches. A widow who loves to read, in order to open a bookstore in an old house, she needs to resist the conservative forces in the whole town. The characters' love for books is a solution to the slow pace of the film and the monotony of the plot. This kind of courage of Akagi, as a certain spirit of the film, has touching power. The end credits pay tribute to John Berger.

The Bookshop quotes

  • Florence Green: I'm afraid red really isn't for me. Well, it doesn't look very good on me from behind; but, perhaps if I stand against the wall most of the time when I'm there. Too - red, don't you think?

  • Milo North: Writers will go anywhere where there is a free drink. I'm not so sure about thinkers.
