Home is over

The Wedding Banquet is one of my favorite films. There is a scene in the film that made me feel very emotional:
After my father came to the United States, he once asked his son if he knew why I joined the army in the first place. The son replied, in response to Jiang Gong's "100,000 youth and 100,000 troops". My father said, no, your grandfather arranged a marriage for me, and I joined the army in order to escape from the marriage. My father went on to say that some people from my hometown escaped later and brought your grandfather's words, saying that my hometown was over, and I wanted to take root overseas.
"My hometown is all over", when I heard Lang Xiong say these words, I shuddered and a deep sadness rose from the bottom of my heart. These words are so concise, so simple and so colloquial, but they contain How much meaning, how much emotion.
