At the beginning of the movie, I was deeply attracted by its style of painting. The style of the movie is similar to Hayao Miyazaki's movies. It has a feeling of the 80s and 90s, which makes people feel very comfortable and quiet. But compared to the films of Hayao Miyazaki and Makoto Shinkai, this movie doesn't have much magic, it tells the story of ordinary high school students, which is closer to life. The biggest feeling this movie gave me was the vague feeling between the male and female protagonists, which easily reminded people of their youth.
First of all, from the perspective of the logic line, the whole movie starts with the heroine Muto. It started with Muto's transfer to another school, and then Muto asked the male protagonist Du Qi to borrow money to push the story to the second stage of the story. Then it tells that Du Qi accompanied Muto back to Tokyo to push the story to a climax. Finally, Du Qi and Muto had a misunderstanding and broke up after returning to school. This is the second half of the story. The whole story is to recall the process of Du Qi and Muto from getting to know each other and then breaking up. Then it begins and ends with the actual male protagonist Du Qi participating in the class reunion.
From the perspective of character relationships, the whole story is also very simple, the main characters are Du Qi, Muto, and Matsuno. The story of friendship and love is told through the stories of these three people. But the biggest feature of this movie is that it seems that the relationship between these three characters is a little light-hearted, but it can deeply feel the entanglement and contradiction between friendship and love during the student period.
The whole movie is more about the story of Du Qi and Muto approaching like friends and lovers. Although the audience understands that this is a love story, there is not a single word of love in the whole article. From Muto's angry performance, we can feel that Muto seems to be in love with Du Qi, but Du Qi doesn't seem to have much love for Muto because of his friendship. Perhaps this is more like a plain-water love. No one has spoken out about the love. Only those who have experienced it personally know their true feelings in their hearts.
At the end of the story, Muto and Du Qi met at the station, and after they found each other, they looked at each other and smiled, and then the film ended. They are more relieved about the past. The various behaviors at that time may be wrong, but that is the original appearance of youth! The story of their encounter is not told in the back of the film, so here is a space for everyone's reverie. Maybe they will always be friends, maybe they will fall in love after they meet. Maybe the youth in everyone's heart is similar but different!
