The search for the film began four years ago. Because I started college four years ago, bought a DVD player, and started watching movies. But only recently bought it on Taobao. The internet is a great place to buy almost anything.

After watching it yesterday, I kept thinking about why I was watching this movie at that time. I started reading Rimbaud when I was in high school, but I couldn't understand it. I only watched Lan Yu last year and was moved by same-sex love. Then I suddenly remembered that it was because of leonardo.

All comments aside, I love Titanic and have read it many times. So watch some other Leonardo movies. Such as Catch me if you can, such as aviator. So I found him other than a third-rate painter. Then I saw the introduction and comments about this total eclipse. Out of my love for poetry and literature, I thought it should be a movie that could move me.

I started watching it late at night yesterday, so I was really moved. Not to mention the wretched Verlaine (even if he is so wretched in reality). This is not a movie about love. Leo is amazing in the film, what a beautiful little boy. In the movie, he is Rimbaud, so enthusiastic and so smart. Rimbaud is one of the best poets, not only his love, but his life. He started writing poetry at the age of 16 and stopped writing at the age of 19. He really was like a shooting star, and disappeared after a flash. Want me to say that he is like a supernova, because his energy can span hundreds of millions of light-years, which is memorable.

Then Leonardo played Titanic, and then a series of works he wanted to transform himself. There is a lot of controversy. Maybe someone thinks he should always be Rimbaud, or that he should always be Jack. But he is neither, as an actor, I approve of such a choice.

Total Eclipse quotes

  • [first lines]

Paul Verlaine: Sometimes he speaks in a kind of tender dialect of the death which causes repentence, of the unhappy men who certainly exist, of painful tasks and heartrending departures. In the hovels where we got drunk he wept looking at those who surrounded us, the cattle of poverty. He lifted up drunks in the black streets. He had the pity a bad mother has for small children. He moved with the grace of a little girl at catechism. He pretended to know about everything, business, art, medicine. I followed him, I had to!

  • [last lines]

Arthur Rimbaud: I've found it. What? Eternity. It's the sun mingled with the sea.
