Zhou Xingchi is the purest

Why do we like Stephen Chow?
If 10 years ago, we might have said that funny, nonsensical, postmodernism is what attracts us most to Stephen Chow. So now, I want to say that the reason why I can't forget him is because of the simplicity of Stephen Chow's films.

Simple structure, simple meaning, simple expression, and pure emotion. This is the Stephen Chow movie that started from "The King of Comedy". After the experience of "Shaolin Soccer" and "Kung Fu" in the middle, there is finally today's "Yangtze River No. 7".

Compared with the movies we have seen before, this simple feature of Stephen Chow's movies may make us feel more clear. Golden Armor, Lust, Caution, Famous Name, Assembly Number... Counting these films that can attract us to the cinema, no matter what the subject matter, how the process progresses, or their mental state, all of them are hidden by various personal or social factors. The repressed emotions caused, even though these emotions can sometimes be vented in the movie, but for the audience, it is all a dark experience of emotions, and sometimes it leads to so-called heavy thinking.

Stephen Chow's films are different. Shaolin football, kung fu, to Changjiang No. 7, Stephen Chow never tried to create a feeling of frustration for the audience, even though he often made us cry. Zhou Xingchi has never been like other directors. Even with the commercial mentality of pleasing the audience and winning the box office, he never forgets to make explicit or implicit reasoning, but never presupposes any grand theme, just to tell an interesting one. story.

Among the Chinese-language films in recent years, "Crazy Stone" is one of the few pure comedies, but his dark humorous way of playing with wisdom is also different from the simplicity and simplicity of Stephen Chow's films. Zhou's films basically don't put too much attention on the narrative skills. The story development often follows a straight line, with occasional interludes, which are already very complicated.

If there is a little trick, it may be Zhou's penetration and application of kung fu elements in the film. If it is more, the special effects are also considered. However, these elements in the film will basically not become a particularly overwhelming factor, on the contrary, they will only further achieve the basic content of Stephen Chow's film: the life and emotions of the little people. In this way, even if the kung fu in the movie is dazzling and the stunts are awesome, the first thing we remember is the story of Zhou: the story of playing football, the story of gangsters, the story of migrant workers. We will love the splendor of kung fu scenes and keep in mind the alien dog, but we will never focus on discussing the trick design of kung fu and the technical characteristics of the dog.

All of the above are just a small impression of me watching Zhou's film, and it may not be correct. However, I say, without the senseless, Zhou's film style that is not perverse, not violent, and not flattering is my favorite. This is the biggest reason why I continue to support Stephen Chow.
