"Inuyasha" VS "Journey to the West"

I don't know why, but when I first started watching it, I felt a little bit of "Western", just intuition. Now that I have seen more than 50 episodes, let's talk about the similarity between "Dog" and "West", one of our four famous novels.

First of all, it is the idea of the whole story. Like "West", "Dog" is a process in which several characters subdue demons and eliminate demons for the sake of justice and people's happiness. The difference is that "Dog" is to collect four soul fragments from monsters and finally bring peace to the entire Warring States period; "West" is a journey of monks and apprentices of Tang Dynasty to learn the scriptures of all beings in the Tang Dynasty. Moreover, both are destroying one or several monsters each time.

The Jade of the Four Souls is similar to Buddhist scriptures.

Inuyasha in the group is so powerful, similar to our Monkey King; Inu's collar with animal teeth and beads is functionally similar to the constriction spell on Sun's head; the power of Iron Broken Tooth is similar to that of a golden hoop; , love to quarrel, Sun sometimes too.

Kagome, the incarnation of truth, goodness and beauty, is similar to Tang monks. Kagome controlled the dog to say "sit down", while Tang Seng subdued Sun and recited the scriptures.

Maitreya, like Zhu Bajie, is lustful.

I recently watched the episode "Night of Taoyuan Township" and thought of "West". "Human Mian Peach" is similar to
"Ginseng Fruit"; "The fake fairy's gourd for making fertilizer" is similar to "The Alchemy Furnace of Taibaijinxing", and there is a monster in "West" that also has a gourd, which can make people smaller and eventually absorb evolution for liquid.

Only seen fifty episodes so far. Let's find out slowly~

Of course, this is only from the perspective of the author's conception and literary writing, and has nothing to do with feelings and other specific things. I also like "Dog" very much, in which there are many places that touch the heartstrings, and many times I am moved to tears. While being moved, I enjoy the beauty of the immersion, and at the same time I say "really classic" in my heart...

As for the "West", it is out of respect for the traditional culture of the country. The cultures of various countries have their own characteristics and cannot be compared. I also like their traditional culture, and watching Japanese anime also prefer those that better show their local culture, such as "Spirited Away" and the like. Far too far~ No matter whether Aunt Takahashi has watched "West" or not, at least, they have "Dog", we also have "West", and it is still hundreds of years earlier.

It's just that we have to work harder to create a classic in anime~

Inuyasha quotes

  • Kagome: [after Miroku observes that Inuyasha isn't such a bad guy] Miroku is right. Inuyasha could have killed the artist, and ended the trouble in one blow. But instead, he spared the man's life and went straight for the ink pot. Yeah, I guess Inuyasha's all right. He just doesn't know it yet. I might tell him, someday, if the time is ever right.

  • Inuyasha: [thinking about Kagome] As long as she's alive and well, that's all I hope for. I can't bear to see another woman die.
