A Brief Comment on "Violet"

Although it is a good work, I still feel sorry for the creativity

First of all, in terms of look and feel, the picture quality is good, but the picture is a bit overexposed... Generally speaking, it belongs to high-quality Japanese comics.

Then there's the plot. On the whole, this is a very stable work, but the plot quality is not high. The progress of the plot in the first few episodes is actually quite fast, but it has been going on a relatively bland narrative, with a single emotional point and thin. A good plot should be freely retractable, moderately relaxed, and able to reflect concentrated contradictions. However, this plot always makes people feel that it has been flat and straightforward, and it is difficult to reach a climax, so it is difficult to bring direct feelings to the heart. You can of course think that this is to build up the power for the later plot, but even so what? From the plot of the first episode, I can probably think of the emotional point behind, and this emotional point is really only miserable, it is a relatively single tear point, and it is difficult to achieve emotional resonance. Another point is that the theme of war, which is a big frame, is integrated into this bland daily life, and it seems petty to talk about Xiao Ai through war. This in turn led to the empty theme of the whole, and the content could not hold up.

Lastly is the character. This plot revolves around the heroine who was used as a war machine in the past to find love. The heroine has been looking for love, and her understanding of love has gradually deepened. In this way, the whole plot is strung together by the heroine. However, the heroine is an "emotionless war machine", which means that it is undoubtedly difficult to develop the plot from the heroine's side, so the feelings expressed in each little story are actually more about supporting roles. Then the problem arises. The portrayal of many supporting characters in this anime is relatively rigid and lacks depth. It seems that they appeared only to be the emotional mentor of the heroine, give her a lesson, and then influence each other, the old-fashioned combo, that's all. These group portraits are just a medium for the author to reflect the good feelings of human beings, not real, flesh-and-blood people. They are full of ideals and romance, floating on the other side. Although it looks like people in life, when you think about it carefully, it is always very far away from reality. This is the biggest failure of this anime. If these supporting characters can be shaped into flesh and blood, then this anime may have more strength than "Natsume's Book of Friends".

I appreciate the creativity of the entire anime, but no matter how good the idea is, it must have a strong plot and characters to support it. If you are creative and don’t steadfastly polish the script and shape the characters, no matter how good the creativity is, it will not be able to play to the level it should be.
