First wrapping of tape

2nd movie review written

"Horace & Pete"

I haven't seen a show like this in a long time

Very sad when my life has been very sad recently

Seeing this movie makes me feel even more sad

It's sad but I have to admire this drama

It is advertised as a comedy joke at a glance

I feel uncomfortable after laughing like I ate some expired food

like i just fuck up my life

Or you can say screw up is all the same

When I first saw it, I always thought it was some kind of heartwarming drama. There may be such a tavern that has been in business for a hundred years, and the tourists in life pass by in a hurry, experiencing one story after another.

But that's not what this pub is called:

Horace & Pete.

It's been a century since the beginning, and it was run by Horace and his partner Pete, so they decided that their sons would also be called Horace and Pete. Sometimes they were brothers, and sometimes they were cousins. But the owners will always be called Horace and Pete. Of course this time takes place in modern times, in 2016. They are still on the show discussing whether Trump can be elected president. Now, of course, it seems that Trump really became president.

Horace

It is a person who has no will, and does not expect much of the world. In some respects, this is a person who is submissive

Pete

He is mentally ill, and if he does not take medicine, snakes and monsters will appear in front of his eyes.

Sylvia

Horace and Pete's sister, thinking how to close the pub and sell it for money.

Uncle Pete

The previous generation of Pete, old Horace, had passed away, so old Pete was still working as a bartender in the tavern.

I also don't think we should introduce too much about the characters of this show.

In fact, it is more about feeling it yourself.

Like this line.

This is not a comedy in the strict sense, and it can even be said that it has created a new style of American drama. This drama has the word Fuck from start to finish. Even in the third episode, he was talking about how he cheated for 40 minutes. Like BoJack Horseman, though not the only one.

Each of the protagonists is well over 40 years old.

I really like this point (only on the screenplay characterization).

For example, I seldom see a drama expression in which a decision to divorce is made when they are over fifty or sixty years old. However, there are more divorces at the age of 40, because the mid-life crisis occurs in the middle-aged age group, and it is often around the age of 40, and the protagonist of the story still achieves nothing. Divorce, discord with children, but life can go on.

And the words of an elder, we tend to listen more

But there are also cases where a midlife crisis may not necessarily lead to salvation.

Some people's lives may never recover, like Eddie, the father of Shameless, who committed suicide. Some people may be like old whites and become drug lords. I think 40+ is a very dramatic age group at this age

When you can look back, you can also look forward to looking forward.

But I am not far from death, I can see more of my life.

Just as we look back at our 20 years of life

"God, I used to be so naive"

"What the hell was I doing before"

But to a certain extent, we don't make too many decisions in our 20s that we regret. But when we get married at the age of 30, when it comes to a lifetime, we will regret it. Just like Horace and his ex-wife, who is more than 10 years older than him.

When the characters in the play curse themselves and their bad life time and time again.

We can feel the same way.

Isn't this our life?

Life is like this, if you're not careful, it's over

The show is just chatting from beginning to end.

The protagonist's chat, the customer's chat. It's not an exaggeration to be talkative.

It's a stage-like structure, and it even really has an intermission. This intermission is actually not for the actors at all. But to us in front of the curtain, life is really hard.

Horace & Pete discusses too many issues, yet uses vulgar terms.

A lot of people say that's how our lives speak, but I also think that's the day-to-day in a pub.

Who would be suave in a wine trough?

I would love to have a bar like this too.

Hiding in the bar every day, playing his own karaoke device.

Have a glass of 100-year-old wine. Or beer.

No matter how difficult life is, isn't it that 80 years?

Life is really bad.

hope.

It's still as tough as ever.

That's how you feel alive.

Horace and Pete quotes

  • Tom: Just accept the fact that love is rare and it probably won't happen to you, ever.

  • Tom: You can't. That's why they call it falling in love. You can't fall on purpose.
