From depression to despair
After watching "Hundred Years Tavern" in one breath, I fell into a period of stagnation for a short period of time. I love comedy, because life is hard enough, only comedy can help me laugh, and the joy of life with the help of external forces is my habit. But this comedy will drag you into the abyss. I just fell into the darkness of the endless stream of smiles. Louise CK is a genius. After seeing his Hilarious, you will know how smart and gloomy he is. He has seen through life. All politics and sex, dirty and bright, can be mixed into a joke with a shit stick. Also liked by Simon Amstell, different style, similar effect - depressive. Pain must be felt, life must be fucked. Louise is even more despairing, saying, you are only dead people who are not yet dead, and most of your existence is death itself. In "Hundred Years Tavern", he melts all the tragedies into a cup of bitter wine: Pete is mentally ill, Silvia suffers from cancer, Pete's uncle ends his life with a gun, and Horace is killed by his favorite Pete. You can find a more tragic plot than this, but you won't find a better storyteller. The source of all tragedy is everyone's broken heart. This is the Centennial Tavern, full of broken hearts, brewing wine of despair.
what is love?
If you met a group of very sad guys, how would you try to empathize with them? is love. We're talking about something so hopeless and real: love. My favorite Uncle Pete, he told Pete that love is when you hold a woman tightly, you look at her, you hug her, you love her, she loves you, you're in her, she starts to orgasm, you Also orgasm. You kiss her with every part of your body, that's love. You can fool around as much as you want, but what I'm waiting for is this kind of love. Very rare and hard to find, but that's all I wanted. After Uncle Pete said this, he left the pub, and the camera was silently frozen in front of the door he left. I couldn't hold back the tears. What a smart director, he tells you without a word, who, at what moment, will leave forever. For another example, the man who loudly mocked Trump, when discussing true love, said that love does not arise based on common backgrounds and interests. Love is a chemical reaction. Chemistry. yes. True love, you can't find it when you look for it, that's why they say that when you fall in love, you can't fall in love intentionally. Among the resident guests of the tavern, I like the old man with a white beard and a red velvet hat. He said, I walk around brokenhearted. He said, Just accept the fact that love is rare and it probably won't happen to you, ever. This is almost my love motto - love is about probability, it is about chemistry, I never expect to meet more than one person in my life, and I am ready to die alone. Dating is not love, and marriage is not the result of love. For desire, for reproduction, and for building a community of survival, it has nothing to do with love. Love is something You know when you know it.
some things that can't be shared
The most amazing thing about "Hundred Years Tavern" is the third episode, Horace and his ex-wife, a play supported by the dialogue between the two (ex-wife's monologue to be precise), really, I'm imagining that if they played a A few hours of drama, I am willing to watch, willing to go. The lines are strong and the emotions are full. Is there a story more powerful than that monologue? In their shared desire, honesty, and pain, the two found a resonance they hadn't seen in years: they understood each other, and they understood themselves, above morals, and above life. Is there something that cannot be discussed with people? such as sex. "Sex" is repeatedly mentioned in "Hundred Years Tavern", but how much is sex related to the "love" just mentioned? You wish to have sex with someone, but is that love? Think again. You can use make love instead, but make is an action, not a result. When you can't count on love, you will rely on "sex" and "interesting" to judge whether you can establish an intimate relationship with someone for a certain period of time. I often use "intimacy", also because the word itself does not need love to support it, but "passion", "loyalty" and "intimacy". Love can be built on a deep friendship and may be born in a long-term relationship. Relationships, but only possible, just possible. Whenever I think of "One Hundred Years of Tavern", I always subconsciously think "One Hundred Years of Solitude" first. Hundred years of entanglements are unclear, in a dark brown house, accompanied by ghosts and memories, drifting for a hundred years. This is your life too. You live in the genes and original memories of your parents, and you even live in the world they built. The last place you stay is where you were born. You can never escape, tragedy. If you know, what a real tragedy. But, even then, you try to live, you always try to live. Alone and full of life. We lost this Budweiser-only pub and stepped into a world of feasting. live. you say. I said. But remember, keep silent.
