In episode 8, Pete asked Horace, why do you think I am alive? Horace was speechless and had to say, because something good might happen in the future. Pete said, I can only stay in that small room, clean up carefully, and live like this, I just got a bad lot, and fate decides that those things will happen to me, I can only do this, there is nothing I can do.
This is one of the things about the whole show that I think fits with Borges' work. Humans have a body that has been determined and a soul drawn on it. At some point, we will find that our fate is determined. We know what we will do, even if we know that it is not right, that it is not good. , we can only watch ourselves do it that way, and can do nothing, just like watching others.
This is the fate of Borges.
