A very touching moment: After Tess was abandoned by Angel, he did not receive a reply and went to visit Angel's manor in town on foot. She took off her muddy leather boots far away, hid beside the haystack, and put on slightly noble leather shoes. But the door wouldn't open. At the end of the service, the people in the town came out of the church, and Tess was wandering, wanting to find out about Angel, but he didn't know how to say it for fear of ruining his reputation.
She was tangled and in pain. Recalling these years, she worked as a coolie on the farm, from raising chickens, to harvesting wheat, to milking cows, to digging potatoes... and was violated by men because of her unbearable love history, how much she needed her husband's protection and tolerance.
Tess has always wanted to be forgiven by the world. After she was violated, she gave birth to a child and her child died. She thought all of these were sins, and she could not forgive her mistakes. On the wedding night, how much she hoped that Angel, who loved her, could understand her ignorance and forgive her sins. However, her beloved Angel was so mean and cruel to her. In his opinion, his lover relationship with an old London woman can be forgiven, but Tess can't tolerate a relationship with an old noble in order to save his family, because she is not nature. My child, is not the lover I used to be?
Tess turned and left the church, walked to the haystack, saw a noble woman who had finished the service, found Tess's broken boots, showed it to two companions, and happily said that it would be donated to the poor. Tess looked at it, saw that the boots were taken away for the noble's charity, and hurried away. Wearing ill-fitting leather shoes, she still has to go back to the countryside to work on a farm, and she still has a long way to go alone.
