dark death after beauty

"The Doll" was the first film I watched by Takeshi Kitano. This film is not as unique as Kitano Takeshi's cold-faced violence. Rather, it turns violence into a shocking force that makes people feel poignant and hopeless. In the film, despair is violence. He uses despair to achieve perfection, and the road of abandoning everything leads to perfection.
Three love stories strung together according to the season as the main axis, describe the journey of a girl who lost her language and memory after being abandoned by her lover, and a man who can't forget his girlfriend who broke up. Along the way, they meet a gangster who realizes that his death is not far away, an obsessive woman who has been waiting for this bad man, and a fan who is desperately pursuing an idol. The dolls take the plot to the extreme with three moving love stories as clues and step by step as the seasons change.

The beginning of the film is a puppet show, this kind of puppet show is called "literary drama". The literary play at the beginning is actually pointing out the fate of the hero and heroine. The puppet of the literary opera, only the body is left. Their movements are the movements of the puppeteer behind them, and their voices are that of the voice actors. You will see the involvement of the puppeteer, as if the puppet is the puppeteer; but that still doesn't get rid of the nature of the puppet. Numb actors, numb audiences, numb dolls, only the master behind the scenes sympathizes with all this.

The reincarnation of the four seasons can't be replaced by all subversions. The past will always smile at you in the corner of history. No more words are needed. The story is simple and messy: one rope, two dolls, three stories, four seasons. Strong colors can not fill the void in everyone's heart. This film uses Junxiu and Mihui to walk through the spring, summer, autumn and winter as the main line, and interspersed with two touching stories in the summer and autumn seasons. I think this idea and logic are very innovative. Moreover, the film fully presents the four seasons of Japan, including the autumn leaves in Japan, the snow in winter, the spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and the scenery of the seaside. Crazy, subverts Kitano Takeshi's previous tranquility, and recklessly renders an extremely cold love season. And the cold tones and tranquility of the past made him unable to give up. The snow-white cherry blossoms, the blue sea, the silent gaze, and the leisurely walking were also quietly integrated into the camera. The colors are neutralized, and there is a cool color under the gorgeous picture.

The three loves are exchanged in the four seasons. In the chaotic time and space, after all, the same goal. After beauty comes dark death. From spring to winter, the dancing cherry blossoms, the peaceful blue sea, the maple leaves all over the mountains and plains, the endless snow, and the love tied by red ropes have just passed by. What does love give them? What should men and women who are seriously injured by love go? Kitano Takeshi's cruelty spread quietly and unhurriedly when his happiness returned. Death, fate, red blood, squeezed in in this warm moment... Accompanied by drifting leaves, falling into the dust.

The final silent gaze of the puppet lovers in The Doll is more than a focus on grim reality. When people are in a desperate situation, in fact, there is still the freedom to choose despair. People have the last freedom because they can choose to despair. Fassbender said: "The end of life is a specific life, and the body must understand death." On the stage of destiny, human beings as dolls will only take off their masks after desperate appearances, find an exit from the stage, and experience brokenness Unscathed in and survive the ultimate tranquility after the horror. Despair is beautiful and doable.

No chaotic gunfights, no surging thoughts, all the violence of Takeshi Kitano can't match the silence here. The reason is that this violence came unexpectedly. In fact, the "sudden" destruction is a long-established destiny, a dense loophole in the world. Fate is like a huge palm, human beings are dolls in the palm, and God's big hand will be quietly clenched at any time.
