Unparalleled!

After watching this film, I listened to Hikaru Utada's "Beautiful World" and continued to read the subtitles until Zhu Xun's appearance and the preview of the next episode.

If I were to describe this film in one sentence, I think I could only use "unparalleled effect and impact" to describe it. This EVA new theatrical version is broken, compared to the TV version, it can only be explained by the word "broken". There are a lot of shocking changes in it, such as the improvement of the picture quality, the appearance of Makiba, the change of the original characters, and the change of the whole setting...

Like the picture quality, I feel that this Blu-ray is finally worthy of the audience. money. There are many things in it that can be described as "beautiful". Especially when the seventh apostle appeared on the stage, the footprints of the bloody sea were very vivid. Relying on fractal calculations, each footprint was very vivid. And these kinds of small details are almost everywhere, which makes me feel that even after more than ten years, this group of people is still as meticulous as they were back then.

On the other hand, the changes in the plot and characters are even more impactful. Makibo's seiyuu is the only young generation in the entire EVA seiyuu lineup. And her performance—both characters and voice actors—makes people feel very distinct. I was deeply impressed by the battle of the third apostle at the beginning. A girl, driving a huge robot, happily sang songs and rushed To the enemy, what a realm this is.

And the change of the original character is even more shocking. Ling Bo Li will become cheerful, whether this is good or bad is really hard to tell. And the triangular relationship between Shinji, Ayanami and Asuka made me almost think that this is a movie with the theme of youth threesome (I later found out that this is a story of father and son quarrel and reconciliation (wrong)); at the same time, Asuka In addition to the long-awaited "あんたばか?" (Are you an idiot), the fact of becoming cheerful is also surprising. And Shinji-kun, alas, forget it, he's become more of a stallion. Even and blessing can have GAY meaning, rotten girls, you win.

When it comes to blessing, I think he is really a very MAN man, just like Shutz and Hoinheim in the steel mill, I have to make up my mind to become such an uncle in the future. And what he said, I think there is a particularly interesting sentence: the amount of happiness a person knows, the tenderness to others. Because that is not the same as weakness.

The last thing I have to talk about is the music. I really really appreciate its music. The music for each battle is very appropriate and sharply boosts the atmosphere. For example, "the final decision we all must take" in the trailer before the DVD was released. Some people say that it can be used as the BGM of almost all final battle scenes; when Makiba appeared, the song "At The Very Beginning", The battle with Makiba and the apostles is simply unparalleled; when Asuka appeared, the rapid battle with the enemy matched "Ambassadrice Rouge", which was completely fun; and the song when Shinji-kun fought the tenth apostle and caused the third shock "Today's Day はさようなら" also renders the atmosphere very well.

In general, although it has become less soul-searching than the TV version in the past, I still think this film is an exciting film that gathers the hearts and minds of Anno Hideaki's generation.

Ritsuko Akagi: I'd show you, but this room's being monitored.

Ryoji Kaji: Was monitored. I replaced the main feed with a loop.
