Love is complex and pure - "45th Anniversary"

The movie begins on a seemingly ordinary morning. Returning from a dog walk, Kate (Charlotte Rampling) and husband Jeff (Tom Courtenay) sweetly discuss songs for their wedding celebration in five days. But a letter in her husband's hand quickly turned this ordinary morning into something shocking. It turned out that what came in the letter was news of her husband's first love, Katya, 50 years ago. Her body was not found until today when she died accidentally while climbing.
Kate didn't take it to heart at first. It was understandable that her husband was sentimental for a while, but what she didn't expect was that her husband's feelings for his dead girlfriend were far beyond her imagination. Especially after seeing her husband's collection of memories of her first love in the attic, she discovered that details she had never paid attention to before revealed the breath of another woman.
Love can't be faked, and since the news of Katya, husband Jeff has become uninterested in everything and unhappy. Within a few days, he and Kate had had several disputes, and the former feeling of harmony and affection was gradually fading away. At the anniversary dinner, she almost forced a smile and finished her first dance with her husband. But when the dance was over and her husband raised her hand to signal to everyone, she, who had always been graceful and dignified, finally couldn't bear it any longer and broke free from her husband's hand as if in extreme disgust. Then the movie came to an abrupt end amid such a sudden change of mood.
What will happen to the two of them after that? Break up after the 45th anniversary, or continue to live together? Whichever one they choose, the emotions they've accumulated over 45 years have soured. In this relationship, the most distressing is probably Kate. Because it wasn't until so many years later that she knew she wasn't her husband's favorite, maybe even just a substitute. The sadness is indescribable.
Love is complex and pure. A person's love for another person may be mixed with various factors, including natural love, deep affection accumulated over time, gratitude for standing together through thick and thin, and the bondage of responsibilities and obligations. Some people say that love will become family after a long time, and some people say that a marriage without love can last forever. Yes, love is complicated, just like in Jeff and Kate's 45-year marriage, and even if Jeff doesn't have real love for Kate, there must be a mutual support and habit between them. But love is also very pure, love is love, not love is not love. Love cannot be faked, nor can it be hidden. Just like when Jeff learned the news of his first love, he could see at a glance how lost his soul was. And Kate is the same. After learning the truth, the blow was fatal. After several times of repression and forbearance, it finally broke out completely on the anniversary. She couldn't forgive her husband's deception to her, and her husband's moving vows at the banquet seemed to her more like a satirical lie. 45 years of real years of running in together can't match an illusory dream. Which woman can accept this gap?
The whole film is quiet and artistic, and I especially like the distant and poetic long-range shots in the film. At the same time, the natural and rich performances of the male and female protagonists are also wonderful, effectively interpreting and supporting the connotation that the film wants to express. For the heroine Rampling, "Time Magazine" commented: "This is Charlotte Rampling's best acting work." At the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival, the male and female lead actors won the best actor respectively. , Actress Silver Bear Award. "Time Out" gave the film a high evaluation: "It is restrained, forbearing, thought-provoking, and full of real emotions. It is a rare masterpiece."
