I plan to watch all the films related to Amish. Besides, the location of the film is in the small town of Pennsylvania I have been to. Maybe I can see a little bit of what it looked like decades ago in the film.
The story is relatively old-fashioned, half of it is suspense (it is not a "thriller"), and half is a love problem in a specific cultural/religious background; although the title is "The Witness", the director seems to be difficult to separate, and the two parts are close in weight. The clue of the empirical person is tense but tense, but it is really nothing new and can only be used as a starting point. Therefore, the director might as well save some space and leave the part of the Amish story a little more rendering.
The male, female protagonist and the little boy are all excellent in their qualities and solid acting skills, especially the little boy, who is so cute, and the acting skills are also great. These make up for the mediocrity of the story, and overall I scored 7.5/10 points. The director was nominated for an Oscar. Maybe, Amish was a hot topic at the time?
