Today's teacher of the Outline of Modern Chinese History did not give a lecture, but showed us a Korean movie titled "The Tai Chi Flag Flying". I'm not very interested in Korean movies, and I'm not very interested in war movies, but I have to say that this movie left a deep impression on me. The film begins with a skeleton and uses flashbacks to tell a story that took place during the Korean Civil War. A pair of brothers, Li Zhentai and Li Zhenshuo, live with their mother and brother's fiancée. The older brother relies on the money he earns as a shoemaker to support his younger brother's schooling, and the family lives happily. But the outbreak of the Civil War broke all this, and the brothers were captured and enlisted as soldiers on their way to defect to their uncle. After entering the army, the elder brother learned that if he got the Medal of Honor, his younger brother could be discharged from the army and go home. During this process, the younger brother did not agree with the elder brother's approach, and the two brothers gradually became estranged. Finally, after sacrificing a comrade to capture the enemy commander alive, the older brother received the Medal of Honor. But when he told his younger brother that you could be discharged from the army and go home, the younger brother couldn't accept it, and the two had a heated argument. During the war, the two returned to Seoul, where they happened to meet the brother's fiancée who was about to be executed for joining the Communist Party. Instead of saving his fiancée, the brother was arrested because he suspected her. Then the place where the younger brother was imprisoned was burned. The elder brother found the pen of the younger brother, thinking that he was burned to death and lost his mind, so he defected to the Communist Party. Unexpectedly, the younger brother escaped by luck. After learning of his brother's betrayal, the younger brother decided to go to the front line alone to wake up the elder brother. After the two met, the older brother did not recognize him at first, and the two faced off against each other. In the end, the older brother recognized his younger brother and let him go first, while he shot the Communist Party with a machine gun, and was eventually killed by the Communist army. Then the story goes back to the skeleton at the beginning, which is the skeleton of the elder brother, and finally, the film ends with the cry and apology of the younger brother. After watching the whole movie, I couldn't come back to my senses for a long time. I am not only moved by my brother's love for my younger brother, but also saddened by the pain caused by the war to the people. In the film, what I saw was not only the cruelty of the real war, but also the reflection on the war. Just like Li Zhentai in the film, in order to let his younger brother go home, he desperately got the Medal of Honor, and gradually forgot his original intention, so that he could also issue an order to shoot when facing a former friend who was captured. Perhaps it was the fame and power that drove him into a daze, but it was more the cruelty of the war that changed him. But it is undeniable that the elder brother's affection for his younger brother has not changed. It is this kind of affection that supports the development of the whole story. It is moving but not tedious. Against the background of cruel war, it shows the greatness of human nature. I think this is the real war movie, to let people understand what human nature is, not just a visual treat. After watching the film, what flew in my heart was no longer just the Tai Chi flag, but a human flag that stood tall!
