Not too funny comedy. Other than that, this is a good movie. The story is not strong, but the lines are quite good, especially the large amount of dialogue between the sisters Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

The characters in the film all take pleasure in hurting people's feelings. They are articulate, self-serving, ruthless yet charming. For them, there is no emotion that they cannot make fun of.

This dispassionate reading of family and interpersonal relationships is profound, yet disturbingly dark.
