For the shocking kiss of Sakamoto and David Bowie

I found this film through the music of the same name by Sakamoto Ryuichi. The soundtrack is good to hear the continuous single loop, but I always feel that it does not match the tone of the film. I was surprised that a homo film of such a scale could be made in 1983. Although the whole film did not have any dew points and passion scenes, it still revealed the basic love between the two male protagonists from time to time. It should be fun to watch.
A few highlights of this film:
1. The soundtrack of Sakamoto Ryuichi's film of the same name;
2. Takeshi Kitano, who was not yet facially paralyzed at the time, is said to be his virgin performance, and he also won the best male supporting role. It turned out that Kitano Takeshi, who was in the underworld, also has a cute side;
3. Sakamoto Ryuichi and David Bowie's shocking kiss without warning;
4. The two appearances of the same line "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" in the movie are full of Before and after the war, the helplessness of the role exchange and the sigh of an eternity.
Finally, there is such a sentence, "If you haven't seen the belly, you haven't seen the real Japanese", and this film can satisfy this desire. A short knife cuts the abdomen, and a long knife cuts the wrong. Jiang Wen popularized the concept of wrong people in "Let the Bullets Fly", which has been confirmed here.

    In addition, the cover of the CC version is nagging: the whole thing is a naked "kiss and fight".

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence quotes

  • [last lines]

    Sgt. Gengo Hara: Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence!

  • Group Capt. Hicksley: [about something Yonoi just said] What the hell's Gyo?

    Col. John Lawrence: Uh... It's a Japanese cure for laziness.

    Group Capt. Hicksley: Laziness! Jesus Christ, what makes he...

    Col. John Lawrence: Why don't you listen? He means *spiritual* laziness, and he believes that if he takes away the food and the water, then he also takes away the nourishment of laziness.

    Group Capt. Hicksley: You don't believe that bullshit, do you?

    Col. John Lawrence: I don't fucking know! Sir, I will tell you something that may surprise you! If *we* do it, *he'll* do it.
