see the bright side of the life

I opened this movie because I saw ten movies recommended by a respondent from Zhihu, and I picked this one that seemed to be the one I wanted to watch.

The reason for recommendation is that the absurd comedy style expresses the other side of religion.

I don't know why Brian called his mother to be a male. In one scene, a person was punished by being stoned to death for uttering the name Jehovah. Among the people who are responding, part of them are women pretending to be men.

It was released in 1979, and it has already made the scene of aliens, flying out of the earth, being hit and flying back...it’s funny.

Brian didn't want to believe that he was a Roman, so he joined the Jewish Union in an attempt to overthrow the Roman rule. However, the leader of this organization is one, just say nothing. Let others rush to the front to do life-threatening things, and retreat to the back. When Brian is in danger, even when he is about to die, he will only show his memory and respect, and will not save him.

When Brian was evading the search by the Roman army, he said a few words in the orator's turf, and he was always followed as a great wise man.

At the end of the movie, his fate seems to be no more variable, and people around him are singing at this moment. It seems to be optimistic about the current situation. With this singing, the film ends. The clearest sentence I heard in the lyrics is "always see the bright side of the life".

The subversive ridicule of religious culture without a bottom line, although not as interesting as imagined, is worthy of being a classic comedy without any exception.

The first half is three stars, the second half is five stars.. This is actually a 1979 film!! Sure enough, the British black humor is enduring...the bright side of life actually came out of this film. . I thought it was borrowing. . Sure enough, it is a world-class film~ The reason why this film lost the Monty Python and the Holy Grail is because of the sensitive topic of Christianity. . .

Monty Python's Life of Brian quotes

  • Brian: Well, why don't you go and tell him you want to be a leper again?

Ex-Leper: Uh, I could do that sir, yeah. Yeah, I could do that I suppose. What I was thinking was I was going to ask him if he could make me a bit lame in one leg during the middle of the week. You know, something beggable, but not leprosy, which is a pain in the ass to be blunt and excuse my French, sir.

  • Brian: Please, please, please listen! I've got one or two things to say.

The Crowd: Tell us! Tell us both of them!

Brian: Look, you've got it all wrong! You don't NEED to follow ME, You don't NEED to follow ANYBODY! You've got to think for your selves! You're ALL individuals!

The Crowd: Yes! We're all individuals!

    Brian: You're all different!

The Crowd: Yes, we ARE all different!

    Man in crowd: I'm not...

    The Crowd: Sch!
